He might be prolific at tackling, but the problem with that is, in order for him to be making so many tackles, it means we don't have the ball often enough, and we are giving it away cheaply.
So the fact he has better tackling stats than any of the midfielders in the top 6 is not necessarily the plus point people keep making it out to be. Surely people see this?
He had the best tackling stats in the league for a woeful Aston Villa side that were relegated with a whimper. It's really not that important.

Yes, but it doesn't hurt to have a player who is so adept at regaining possession when we do lose it - which is an occupational hazard anyway.

He will have a great game against Chelsea 90 minutes of heaven for him kovavic, Jorginho will give him plenty of opportunities to get them stats up.
The people who want him dropped, who could you play instead to break up play? He’s the only player in the team that breaks up opposition attacks, most other players watch the other team run past them. Get a decent passer next to him and all he’ll need to do is pass to them.

I think more people are calling for an an upgrade. Most, me included like the fella. In gana's defence he is fair dinkum smicko when he runs around but jeepers, if we are serious about getting in among the sky 6, this bloke ain't the jam.

All very well being top of the stats but we should be asking why is it he has to do so many!
Did people ask why Kante had to make so many tackles when Leicester won the league, or when Chelsea did the season after that?

I would not know, I have no interest in any other club or their players only Everton.
Well Kante was the top tackler in 2015-16 and 2016-17 IIRC.
The sides he played for won the league both those seasons.
Losing possession is part of football. It's how quick and effective you are in winning it back (this is Manchester City's great strength) that counts.

He’s made more tackles than anyone in Europe. I’m not quite sure who we are going to upgrade to, unless Matic or Kante are available any time soon.
