2018/19 Idrissa Gueye

He can’t even come close to doing what Gueye does. He is the closest though. I’ll give you that.

He's not as good as Gueye. But his skill set is pretty much the same, great engine, loves a tackle and can help players like Davies and Sigurdsson to play higher up the pitch. Gueye is faster, has better positional sense and probably better in the tackle overall but I'd say McCarthy is slightly better on the ball than Gueye in fairness to him.

That said the two of them aren't the best on the ball by a long way lol

It’s about time international football, with the exception of the World Cup, is scrapped. These footballers cost clubs a lot of money and pay them a lot of money. Constantly getting injured on international duty has huge effects on league performance, and therefore, how much money a club makes during a season.

At least we have a bit more squad depth this year, but dammit, I wish Gana hadn't got injured. Poor little fella. How long's he out for?

I hate international breaks. I always get nervous whenever any of our squad are called up, especially if they're Irish.

It looks like he returned to us yesterday to recover quicker from the ankle injury he got,[however long he may be out for if any time]

Lions top scorer for the 17th minute this Saturday against the Nile Crocodiles, but out of injury in the 40th ... Idrissa Gana Guéye will not be traveling to Khartoum.
The Senegalese midfielder was finally declared withdrawn and unavailable for Tuesday's return match against Sudan.
The native of the Medina returned this Sunday to Everton in his club for more intensive care, and for a quick recovery.
Note that Gana Guéye completes the list of "executives" who have withdrawn for this double confrontation namely Kalidou Koulibaly, Salif Sané, Moussa Konate, Lamine Gassama .
