He 100% will mate, though I agree on the point about having a better player on the ball.

He's not going anywhere. He's one of our best players.

He is one of our best players I agree but still see Silva looking for more of a comfortable ball player that can win the ball and give excellent distribution. Gana cannot do that. Very good player but they will be looking for a better all rounder as they should be looking for better in all positions.

Not sure where you’ve both got this idea from, but nobody’s mentioning Xavi or Pirlo. There’s a big gap between them two and the minimum requirement for a centre midfielder passing wise, which Gueye doesn’t meet at the moment.

Nobody is demanding that he suddenly become one of the world’s best passers. But he regularly hits 10 yarders behind people, at chest height, out of play etc. which isn’t good enough.

He’s a great ball winner (although Kante is still the best in the league in my opinion), but that doesn’t mean all other aspects of his game are completely immune from scrutiny.

If we're in a position where we have 60-70% of possession, then I quite agree, although I'm not sure who in our squad would slot in instead. Against the teams above us however, the chances are that they will have more of the ball than us, so his ball-winning capabilities are crucial. It seems inevitable that Davies et al will get some game time during December, so it will be interesting to see what he's learned from training alongside Gomes.

I just don't think players like Gana are easy to find though mate. Even Ndidi and Ndombele, who are definitely ball-winners and also excellent on the ball, don't have the tenacity and ability to nearly always be in the right place.

Yet again I agree. I am trying to get into Silva/Brands mindset and just putting across that my opinion is they will be looking moreso for the ball player than stopper. If the player has a bit of both I think they will go for him and I agree that they will not be as good a stopper as Gana but vast improvement with the ball.
Gomes is no slouch in the tackle, Siggy drops and does his bit and with our CB pairing(s) looking so much better the sacrifice would not hit us as badly defensively but help us going forward immensely.

I love Gana
He’s been absolutely boss for us on so many occasions and freed up Gomes to run the midfield
I love Seamus and have done from day one
I thought Walcott was boss last season and have us real pace
In the past I suppose I’ve been too loyal to players like Baines and Jags as they faded

However if we want to challenge the top 4 we need to be ruthless

Gana Walcott and Coleman need to be replaced in the first team , not sold but dropped to squad players where they will still make a valuable contribution
Certain games will suit them and some won’t

If we can replace those 3 with quality the same Gomes , Ricarlison and Digne then we will be able to compete at the top table

Wether we have the money and the appeal to get players of that ilk remains to be seen
I’d like Lozano , Ndembele or Doucoure , and a quality RB along with a CF over the next two windows
Gomes on a permanent deal obviously supercedes all of the above

I wouldnt be surprised if we played with 2 central players who can both play box to box e.g Gomes and Ndombele/Doucoure. One sits while the other goes forward etc...

Think thats more Silvas 'style'. Will be interesting to see what happens.

That all makes sense but as you point out, these players cost big money.

In an ideal world you may want to keep Coleman Gana and Walcott but the reality is that they may fetch £70-80mil which covers a huge amount of fees.

I think to break down the situation with Gana, would you rather keep him and add Doucoure or sell him and add Ndombele/Neves?

I’d keep him
We need a squad and Neves was bossed by Mooy last week

We’ve got the best ball winner in the league playing as our holding midfielder and still people aren’t happy because he can’t pass like Pirlo. He’s been one of our best players this season.
When he's gifting the ball away in his own half he will rightly get called on it, has been in good form but looked poor yesterday, no point pretending he didnt

No mate you can never criticise him, he jogs to away stadiums as a warm up or something
