not a top 6 midfielder I'm afraid, can make all the tackles in the world but top class midfielders can use the ball and the last two games have highlighted his short comings

I love Gana, think he's about our best player, but when the other team packs it in, Gomes can sit back and be the deeper central mid. It would probably be better to have someone with a bit more impetus. That being said, I could also see us giving the ball away and getting picked off going backwards. Davies might have been interesting today, his work rate and movement might've helped.
he is nowhere near our best player, but has gathered himself a fanclub that won't accept any criticism of himHow is he? Seriously...
I keep reading and hearing this. He is BANG average. The most overrated player in the squad by a mile, and people just excuse him all the time. He gives the ball away regularly, and his passing is diabolical. Even when he finds his intended target, its often slow, bobbling or behind the player, so it's next to useless. So many times he gets it, gives it straight back, and if he doesn't, he invariably takes too long on the ball.
He is at very best a hard working plodder, and you only have to look at Gomes to see what a real, PL CM can and should be able to do. He's been in this league for about 5/6 games, Gueye for 4 years.
I honestly would love to be able to see what these others see, the ones who say about how he's a joy to watch etc. But I don't. And I never have. He has the occasional good game, usually when we play well. And that's the difference. Really good players make teams play better by being there. He only plays well when everyone else does.
It honestly baffles me how this lad gets the plaudits he does, when Mccarthy got slated for doing basically the exact same thing, but more efficiently. It must be the red hair, it's the only thing I can think of.

I understand the love for Gana but i understand the 'hate' for him too. As others have said, wasted against a park the bus side but great against a positive team that needs stifling.
My biggest gripe is his constant attempts to score from outside the box when we really need him to play a pass to someone who knows what they are doing.
Every time i see him shoot the ball goes well wide or well over. Not sure i have ever seen him hit a clean one yet. He wastes so many good attacking opportunities & its really winding me up now, especially since we are struggling for goals as it is.
Said the same for 12 month. And the people saying he has good passing stats. I would if I passed it back or square 90% of the time. How is he? Seriously...

That pass to digne in 2nd half was embarrassing. He has time to control and look up, Digne on his own 20 yards from the Newcastle box, and gana puts it on the Newcastle’s full backs head on the edge of the box. Digne had sprint to go for the ball, he won the header but put it out for a goal kick.
And that effort on goal was shocking, let’s hope PSG weren’t watching his last 2 games.
So he’s created 3 chances in a 115 games, if Ive read that right. WOW 1 a seasonIdrissa Gueye

Agree with much of your post, but didn't he bury one last season at Huddersfield.I understand the love for Gana but i understand the 'hate' for him too. As others have said, wasted against a park the bus side but great against a positive team that needs stifling.

Have you ever considered that it’s because he’s playing well that the others play wellHow is he? Seriously...
