2018/19 Idrissa Gueye

It is funny that a club in a position of PSG arguably top 5 in world football want Gueye. Yet we are linked with the likes of Barrios and Doucoure. If these players are more superior to Gueye why don't PSG want to sign them instead? Sounds like they either want Gueye on the cheap or once again Everton are cashing in on another asset before it loses value at the detriment of the team.

The Spurs match ended all debate in my mind about how important he is to the team. Without him doing his thing in there, they cut us to pieces at will. Pickford's performance distracted many as to what the true issue of that match was and it was completely no competitive midfield battle. We got thoroughly dominated.

If we don't have a replacement (and a good one) lined up for him, I wouldn't sell him for £50m this window. Despite his limitations, he is completely indispensable to this team right now, especially as his back up is Tom Davies.

We'd be mental to sell halfway through the season.

We'd be mental to sell at all, really.

In all honesty, as good as he is at what he does, I think his skill set is something we don't need quite so much of

He can't play as the proper number 6 in a 433 because he can't pass the ball, which limits us to the 4231 we play now. Essentially we play the system we do because of him and Sigurdsson - they're both good at what they do, but they're both pushing 30, have obvious flaws, earn big money and restrict the way we play

If we could replace Gana with a player who can pass the ball properly, can sit as a number 6 and is maybe 75% as good at what Gana does as he is, we'd be better off for it IMO
£25m isn't enough, but £35m would be worth considering - we'll never make better money on him than we would right now and there isn't a bottomless pit of cash available, even if it's considerably greater than it used to be. Teams still need to consider trading profits and he's a prime candidate for it

If Gana goes to PSG he will prove to be a far better player than loads of our fans ever gave him credit for as he will have quality around him, and his team mates won't be letting him down like they do in this team. Hope we have a sufficient replacement for the energy he brings and ability to win the ball back.

I don't think any of our players are irreplaceable though and he does have limitations that have been frustrating, more noticeably in the last month or so - his passing. I think far too much is made of his "terrible" passing though and for all these supposedly dangerous situations he gets us in to from giving it away, I am struggling to think of goals that we have conceded as a direct result of him giving it away.

I agree that selling him for £30m+ would probably make sense considering his age and deficiencies, but I actually think the qualities he brings are absolutely vital to the team, and would need to be replaced like for like. To accommodate a player like Gomes in the middle of the park, as well as wide players who are basically auxiliary strikers, you need somebody in midfield who will cover a huge amount of ground and win the ball back a lot. If we lose those skills and get somebody who just sits deep we'll be a whole lot worse I think.

The fella can't pass 10yds, and that lets him down massively. He's usually always winning back his own poor pass. I don't expect him to place defence splitting balls for 90mins, but he's struggling to find team mates with what you'd all assume to be an easy pass.
