If you were already super rich it'd change matters...also it'd be like getting offered a new job elsewhere with no reduction in wages after you just brought your previous employers into disrepute.

This feller and his agent need to be handed a deadline by Everton and they need to make a decision. He'd be a welcome addition here playing-wise, but Makelele he aint.

You’d have to have some money in the bank to make £4.5 Million worth walking away from

The pay off he expects to get wont be £4.5M.

He'll be absolutely minted. Age 32 playing for clubs like Villa, Everton and PSG for 7 years?

He'll have earned about £25M.

He’s on £5m a year at PSG, the pay off should be at around 60-70% so around £3-3.5m.

Off Topic
Sure everyone has rights, but when you use those rights to refuse to wear a rainbow as part of an anti homophobia campaign then we have the right to call you a homophobe. This wasn't associated with a specific group that some don't like it was just a stance against homophobia. He refused to play twice because of a rainbow, not really hard to see why people are calling him a homophobe is it?

Exactly this. To try and compare it to not wearing a poppy or not taking the knee is completely bizarre and to be honest quite offensive.

The mental gymnastics some are going through there to try and justify his signing are astonishing.

When your throwing your morals out the window just to resign a football player it's time to knock the game on the head.

Ok.

But he has to take the hit financially. I dont blame his club taking that stance.

He's not a child. He knows that there are repercussions to face for taking the action he did.

The whole thing is going a bit sour now. This feller needs to show some contrition rather than flouting the established norms that exists in western European football.

He better do it quickly too.

Dave I think this is going down the toilet, TBH with him messing around like this I am uneasy about him coming here and we facing some thing similar in the future.

So apply that same logic to your own life. Would you walk away from 50-80% of a yearly salary cos a previous employer came back in for you?

These are special circumstances. PSG could claim that his actions damage their club's reputation.

Everton are offering him a way out but Gueye seems to want to have his cake and eat it too.

One would imagine the time to claim that would have been at the time.

I would also guess that the Qatari royal family aren't exactly at the forefront of advancing LGBTQI rights.

He'll be looking at this next move as his last, so like any of us will want to maximise his retirement fund. Nothing wrong with that. It is frustrating though, sitting here, hoping that today is the day on repeat.

Nail on head, came here to say same thing. He is nearing end of his career, and is rightfully trying to maximise his earning potential in these last few years
