Ash, you do sometimes talk silly mate. Stones has been heavily involved in our pre-season, because he's still an Everton player. Doesn't mean he won't be sold if City come in with the right bid. Similarly with Mata (while I'm not saying it's in anyway a definite, I must add) he's still a Utd player and so Mourinho will use him in pre-season.

And how do you know it's us dragging our feet. You have completely ignored (in the Gueye instance) the other party in this, which is Villa... Plus, Gueye also has two offers (one from Marseille, the other is unkown) from France as well...
The difference with stones and mata though is mata was meant to have been approached and bid for 4 weeks ago. Which would make the delay and subsequent involvement in the team and telling sign he isn't leaving. If he was no part of any plan for the team then 4 weeks later and it hasn't been wrapped up? All mata would represent in that situation is income rather than a player, especially as they have already replaced him with the Dortmund player. So whether they signed pogba or not is not relevant as they aren't similar players.

Stones however has not been in advanced talks at any point otherwise he wouldn't be here. We aren't selling stones for the money so if he didn't go then we wouldn't be negatively affected other than spending less money in the window.

If villa have put a release clause in the contract then they are powerless to stop Gueye going. We could have put the money up front and got him in for a medical and put down his personal terms which he would jump at considering it would be a pay rise. Simple deal that shouldn't take this long. Makes no difference if other clubs are interested, you don't do business waiting for everyone else to be turned down first.

I suspect this will be completed on either Monday or Tuesday
Or possibly Wednesday or Thursday, with Friday a possibility, not to mention the weekend, and I'm not specifying a week, in fact it might not happen at all, but tomorrow or Tuesday is favourite.

Ash, Stones has been linked with a move away to City since before the Euros started? :D

And it depends mate. Villa may have put a release clause in that is automatic, though they may have one that is akin to Suarez's at Liverpool.

And why would he necessarily jump at it if he has other offers on the table? You can't keep presuming something is simple. It may well be that Gueye is merely a contingency measure for us and we're waiting to see ourselves how stuff with other potential signings progresses in the coming days.

People on here seem very adept at presuming stuff and then judging everything on those presumptions, when all we actually know is we've bid for some players and have been in talks.

At 7.5 million he isn't a back up option he is a player we are after. Cheap enough for low risk and be part of the squad. He would jump because he would move back into the premiership working under koeman and probably the pay rise to go with it. It's win win for him , he gets to go back into the top league and get more money as a result. So even if there are other offers on the table it makes no odds if we are actually determined to sign him.

The issue with Suarez mate was it was a phantom bid. They wanted him at that price and legally they could have forced Liverpool to sell him but they didn't. They bottled it when the deal had a chance of going through and didn't bother to back it up, legally Liverpool couldn't refuse the buyout clause, they just got lucky that arsenal didn't challenge them on it.

That's not right about Suarez. Was explained yesterday about clauses.

We'll see lad.

7.5m isn't much in today's market and would be a good deal IMO, but nothing is simple and it could be a case of signing on fee to length of contract or whatever.

Personally, I think the deal for Gueye could be completed Monday or Tuesday - which would make sense given Koeman and the main transfer staff (Walsh and Contract Dave) were in Dresden for the past two days.

I suggest going back a bit deeper before Gueye voiced his intent to leave. A lot of butthurt in the newer comments.

Like November and December when there saying how bad he is. He might have amazing tackling stats, but he played in a team that never got out their own half, and spent half their time on the defensive.
