If he was willing to come would you pay 20-25 million for Lukaku?

a sad thing to look at it this way but we buy lukaku for 20 million.

guarantee in 3 years time we could sell him for 40 million.

He will be that good, trust me. All this 'oh his touch his poor, he is lazy, we could get someone else' will be proven wrong.

Drogba didnt play top flight french football until he was 24 at least and lukaku is as good now as he was at 24, with 4 years on him. By the time this lad is 28 he will be one of the stars of europe and guaranteed to bring 20 + goals a seaon.

Its all relative nowadays though. Like, the combined trio of Jelavic, Shane Long and that lad at Norwich, (Vonwinklesomething), probably cost circa £20m. About 10 goals between them?

Lukaku is deffo work in progress, but he is building a solid, if unspectacular, track record at the top level.

A nervy yes from me.

Yes from me.

Everything about him says he wants to improve. You can't ask for more from a player of his ability at his age.

I don't think it's a huge risk - except injury-wise, and in that he's no different to any other player.

We could have him for five or six seasons and still sell him at a profit.

i love Lukaku, but i think Bony, if available fits our system better, in that he works harder as a lone striker but also holds the ball up well and brings others in which lukaku struggles with at times.

Without Champs league, I think it's unlikely he'll stay. Maybe 30% chance as opposed to the 50/50 we'd have had finishing 4th.

as an alternative, Bony would be ideal based on his performances this season, but he'd probably cost as much as Rom. would anyway. In which case, we might as well go for Rom.

If Lukaku is signed (or bony) then I can still see Traore being brought back on loan. If it was bony though, that'd mean our two primary strikers would be off to the ACON in jan. Not even counting Koné as I doubt he'd be in the squad with the forwards Ivory Coast have available.

Alternatively, Batshuayi and Remy could potentially be bought for a combined £20 mil. A proven prem scorer and potentially the next star for Belgium. Unlikely but I'd be happy!

To be honest, he plays like he doesn't know his teammates most the time as it is.

I think we vastly overrate Lukaku.....but nearly as much as he overrates himself.

This has been something that's done my head in all season, there's just no understanding between any of our attackers, Naismith being the exception but still not good enough, how can our small group of attackers still not have learned were to be for each other, they should be learning this on the training ground and in games, we don't look like we have a clue, for instance Deulofeu always takes the ball to the bye line and wizzes the ball fast very close to the goal line and no one can get on the end of it that much, why doesn't someone say look if your on the ball and get to the touch line try and pass to the penalty spot and i'll always be there or there abouts, one two's, things like that, we just seem to rely on spectacular solo goals and stuff, i can't see 1 attacking player who is forming an understanding with his team mates Naismith aside

i also agree with signing Holt. He should be available on a free transfer at the end of the season and he could be a star striker for us

£20m-£25m Not a chance. I understand what people are saying about age. But you can't teach a 1st touch. An his is awful. Running at goal with the ball at feet he can be very dangerous. But back to goal, hes no better that Brett Angel. Awareness is terrible to.....

Not good enough for me.

Spot on mate, you cannot get that first touch under control it's the first thing you learn and he'll end up being to easy for the oppositions manager to sus out very quickly, for 20 to 25 mill we could find the next Pele for gods sake

Has great potential and would hate the reject the chance of signing him as he could be world class, but the first touch just gets on my nerves so much. Striker is the most important part of our budget, but we could blow 80% of it on one player? No thanks. RS payed much less for sturridge, something like that we need, Hernandez for me.

Rom will get you 15 odd goals a season which is fine but he needs someone along side him that can get another 15 goals and has better techncial skills to offset ROM,s touch and laboured workrate. We would have to go out and get a loan striker becuase we could,nt afford two permeant striker fees.

Judging by this poll it is almost 50/50 if Martinez is as undecided as us then there is no way he can risk all our budget on him especially with europa next season, we will end up mid table if we don't add a fair few faces.
I think lesser risks would be Bony, Benteke or even Traore on a permanent deal, although these are closer to the finished articles and would may not rise a great deal in price I think they would give us a quicker return. All of which fit the mould and I believe would cost less.

Benteke - 20
Traore - 10
Bony -20

No way shape or form is Benteke a lesser risk than anything mate, he blew his ankle out and no one has a clue what state he will be in coming back from that, it's finished other players careers in the past like.
Traore - honestly he's on, wouldn't pay 10m for him though
Bony - could easily be another Michu - one season wonder - and he's just the Flavour of the month atm due to being in good form the past few months, his goals look a lot less impressive if you remove the amount of pens he has scored from that

Think Traore would cost £8m max, after his injury probably much less, but it's not a consideration anyway as it'll be a loan.

Talk of Lukaku is almost certainly a case of being as well as Traore, not instead of.
