If Silva is sacked - who could/should we get?

We started out like that under him, he did indeed improve tactically when he had a small budget to improve the players. He did it slowly and carefully and for better or worse we were generally best of the rest..unlike now where everyone is asking where are next points are coming from to keep us in this league.

Weird part is in the final table no matter if we have a good or a bad season there is about 5 places difference. Its all rubbish really.

Head Coach (since that's what we'd be looking for, with Brands taking the other responsibilities) and assistant, anyone?

I'm mostly joking (though less so on Arteta) but at least they'd have some passion

That’s the thing - being best of the rest would be a massive improvement!

How the hell is Eddie Howe overhyped?

He’s made Bournemouth a consistent premier league team after bringing them through the ranks of the lower leagues, they play decent attacking football and actually comes across as intelligent and thoughtful.

Is he not foreign enough for some?

His Burnley episode revealed a man of weak character, he wouldn’t survive the 3 month probationary period we are willing to give him.
He’s be a broken man by 6 months.

For me the issue with Howe is that Bournemouth are just enjoying the ride, so the expectation and pressure is totally, totally different. They're quite happy to trade an occasional 4-0 win at home to Chelsea for a more common 5-0 loss to Spurs, 4-1 to United, 4-0 to Burnley etc. They enjoy the good days and write off the bad as part of the experience. That just won't be tolerated here, he'd be under enormous pressure for losing 7 consecutive away games like they have. We'd be saying it showed that he simply wasn't capable of stopping the rot and was proof that he's tactically inept. I just don't think he seems like the type of bloke who could manage a bigger club with more expectation.

Yet Craig Shakespeare has got more managerial experience than the pair.

As has Unsworth who would clearly have more passion.

It's not the way to go.

He tussles with Silva for the worst set up defence award this year.

He is allowed to make mistakes, 17 of them is taking the michael though.

Oh yeah, 100% the set piece thing is a massive issue.
I do think it is something he is trying to work on though.
You can tell by his interviews he is putting the hours in but something just isnt working, the way we set up for citys goal yesterday was different to how we set up for Wolves, both didnt work. He may feel he is banging his head against a brick wall, as it may just not be sinking into the players, or the combination of players we have really dosent help (Pickford stays on his line, Keane not aggressive enough, Zouma cant concentrate, others arent following the ball etc etc.

Im willing to give him time to fix it as its not like Martinez who wouldnt acnowledge the issue

Keane always looks like his thinking about what he's left off next weeks shopping list.

Our model these days is far more towards head coach, rather than a traditional manager... and Arteta is one of the highest rated young coaches in the country.

Not sure he'd be my first choice, but I'd take him ahead of many of the options mentioned in this thread
