IF We Avoid Relegation...

I think the natural reaction is to celebrate if we manage to stay up, but, we then need to really turn up the heat on the club to let them know that our survival wasn't down to them. What was down to them is the fact that we have spent the past 2 seasons in or around the relegation zone, the club is an absolute shambles and radical change is urgently needed.

i was kind of resigned to us going down and thinking it may be for the best, strip out the squad, start afresh, and hopefully win a trophy and come back up in thr new stadium

but not only does the financial concern worry me, but how a relegation would effectively tarnish the club. the one thing we have atm is longevity. we are a top flight club, always have been. to go down would take away the one thing we have going for us.

i'll celebrate if we stay up, but something huge needs to change for us to survive again, otherwise we will ust go down next year.

we feel very Villa circa 2012-15. not good enoguh for the league but always 3 teams worse. we are heading down at some point unless there is drastic overhaul at board and player level

"to go down would take away the one thing we have going for us."

But doesn't that sum up everything...

I was convinced I wouldn't celebrate last season, if we stayed up. I was on the pitch. It was pure relief and emotion.

This season however, I'd only be on the pitch if we all went on to protest. Not a chance would I be celebrating barely staying in the league again. This season has been a disgrace and they've treated us like dirt. Regardless of our status at the end of the season, change is needed.
Would you congratulate the players if you were on the field?

It would be a relief and a massive weight off. I didn't celebrate last year and I wouldn't this year if we pull through.

I would however have a nice drink and quietly reflect at least we aren't in the situation that the other clubs supporters who haven't beaten the drop. I don't think booing and protesting as soon as the season is over is probably the right time, the march before the game (hopefully when already safe) should tell the board all is not forgiven.

Be very happy the day if we survive, but I still won't be confident for the future. We weren't supposed to be in the situation again this season and yet...

It will be a sense of relief, but a club of our stature should not be celebrating avoiding relegation. However that is how low we have sunk under this board, that avoiding relegation is deemed worthy of celebrating. I’ll only celebrate when Moshiri and co sell up and fresh direction is brought to the club.

It is only worth celebrating if firstly the Chairman, board are removed and professionals are brought in then owner finds a responsible buyer and sells up, otherwise it's rinse and repeat next season.

Second option for me, because i'm worried that BK will spin it into a success, and use it as an excuse to not do anything. It doesnt mean i want to be relegated, i just keep waiting for that 'strategic review' or something to change.
It kind of feels like we are waiting for something terrible to happen to make us realise - to wake us up and jolt us into action, so that we finally change. A bit like when people have a health scare and finally realise they need to change everything about their lives. We need to change almost everything about the club, but 2 relegation fights in a row are enough of a 'health scare', surely.

i'll only really be confident when we start seeing some significant changes behind the scenes, in the boardroom, some symbolic changes in the way we do PR, or our sponsor , or a new coach, a new transfer...something like that. Every so often we used to pull of a coup, or a surprise... those days have gone with Ancelotti & James, but also we need to inspire players and staff to have the confidence to come to Everton.

Think that 4 more points , from a possible 9 , should keep us up. Maybe even 2 more points would be enough. But I want us to take 7 to 9 points. Then it’s that wee punch in the air from me. That’s my celebration sorted.
I agree with most comments on this thread , the board has to go , and we build for next season. And we don’t find ourselves , in this position , next season.

Getting fed up with punters , wanting us to be like Brighton , Brentford , Fulham , Palace , etc etc. All decent clubs , but we are bigger and better . We are Everton , we need to start showing that. Time now to stand up, and be counted.
Ok , what about the rest of the season? We can take a point from the Man City match. Maybe even beat them. They will be thinking about their match with Real Madrid , next week. We need to take advantage of that.
We can beat Wolves. Toothless Wolves , they are nothing special. Turn up , and we can beat them. And then there is Bournemouth ( our awful season imo , started with those 2 defeats to them , under hapless Lampards reign ). They will be on their summer holidays. We have to beat them . And we will.

After that 5-1 win the other night , no more excuses . We can’t be relegated. We need to turn up , for the next 2 weeks. We need to stay in the premier league. It will be unforgivable if our manager and players fail to get us safe. I just can’t see how we can play like we did against Brighton , and then not turn up in the next few matches. Momentum , momentum , momentum.
Confidence, confidence, confidence. Win , win , win.
Up the Toffees.

Would you congratulate the players if you were on the field?
No? They've been an utter disgrace for large parts. People (rightly) praise Doucoure for sprinting 70 yards to score his goal. But every other game this season, I've seen the vast majority of them slowly jog forwards when we have a chance to counter. The players for the second year running have gotten away with murder. If we didn't have the problems with the board/new managers. Fans would look at one of the big problems.

These players are capable of so much more than they've done this season. Not saying they're world beaters, no extremes, but better than what they've given us in a lot of games and Brighton away proves that.
