If we go down, how do you start the rebuild?

I’d be hoping we could keep a nucleus consisting of
Patterson
Mykolenko
Godfrey
Branthwaite
Doucoure
Gray
Gordon
Simms
Townsend
Alli

I feel this would give us a chance of bouncing straight back up. Bit of youth and experience mix.

DCL - I honestly don’t think anybody would buy him after these injuries so would also start the season at Everton.

Holgate and Keane would also be decent in the championship so if they stayed then it wouldn’t be a bad thing, same with Coleman as backup to Patterson. Then there is the lad coming back from Standard Liege at left back.

I actually even think Gomes would be decent for a season in there with his experience.

Say goodbye to Kenny, Delph, Tosun, Gylfi, El Ghazi

sell Mina, Allan, Richy, Pickford
DCL ain’t injured mate.. he wants out

We'd only be able sell Pickford, Richy, DCL, Dacoure and maybe Allan will go back to Italy.
What ever they are worth knock 50% off and that's closer to the money will get.

The likes of Holgate, Keane, Delph, Gbamin well he stuck with, teams arnt going to buy them or if they would they wouldn't pay anywhere near the wages we pay them so they might.refuse.to move.
They be worth top price no matter the league we are in. We won’t sell cheap. That doesn’t really happen anymore when teams go down. Norwich LB is it they wanted over 25 mil and he still there. Don’t believe we sell cheap because we won’t

The last accounts wage bill would have also included:
Hamaz 220
Digne 150
Bolasie 60?
Walcott 100
King 60?
Besic 30?

Plus Carlo was on around 12m a year.

Although it still doesn't touch the sides and that is nearly all the top earners off the books. We must be missing something because I'm not sure how we get to 180m, if I'm honest?
Siggy on 140k

And it also didnt include.

Dele 100k
Myko 40k
Patterson 40k
Gray 80k
Townsend 80k
Rondon 80k
Begovic 60k
El Ghazi 50k
VDB 80k

Plus wages for 2 managers.

People seem to think we have made wages savings the last year, IMO, we havent.

Of course this summer we shed a LOT of wages, but that only helps our balance sheet next summer and some of the players we release this Summer we will need replacing.
What wages are we saving in total? As the 2 loanees will be going back

Contracts ending this summer -

Begovic
Lonergan
Kenny
Van de Beek -loan
Delph
Sigurdsson
El Ghazi -loan
Tosun

1. Keep Lampard. We need continuity and I'd like him to stay on.
2. Entrust all football matters to Thelwell, and Lampard working with him for the first-team squad.
3. Kenwright and DBB should resign - they are responsible for oversight and have failed.
4. We cannot simply sell everyone - we need a core of squad - but sell as many as possible.
5. We are then looking at a mix of cheaper prospects + reliable Championship journeymen to give us the nucleus of a squad that will be competitive.
6. The cups are not going to be relevant so its 46 games to focus on to maximise the points totals and see where we are with 10 games remaining.
7. Implement a post-Unsworth overhaul of Academy/U-23's - the core of our focus has to be on developing our own players.
8. Spend only what we can afford, obvious but worth saying and not like we will have a choice anyway. There will have to be a cost control and value for money aspect to absolutely everything that we do.
9. If possible, continue with the stadium development but only if its feasible. It would remain the one thing we could positively point to and a big incentive to go back up asap.
10. Recognise the trauma caused by this and let the dust settle, hopefully by building a team and squad that are reliable and consistent with a high work ethic. Relegation will indeed be a seismic event. The club has to commit to understanding why it happened, learning from it, and ensuring glaring mistakes are not repeated.
Totallagree except for the stadium. Gets me kind of excited about a complete overhaul of the club. It’s in desperate need of it

We paid £50m for him when he had done less. We are not going to be low balled.
The £15m shout was wild. His book value would be more than that. So if we sold him at £15m, even with his wage saving, it would probs be worse for the accounts then keeping him

Our strategy should be the same, whether we go down or stay up. The Board all need to resign, Moshiri needs to bring proper football business people to lead the executive and we need to gut about 50% of the playing squad, especially the ones who will fetch the largest transfer fees.

Once we have a transfer budget from the sales of players and saved wages from those who are out of contract, then we need to reinvest an optimistic 80% of it back into the first team and retain the rest to make transfer gains that will really help claw back some of the losses we've made as part of the three-year rolling cycles which will put us in good stead for the following year and allow us to invest more.

The players we sign should be in the 18-26 age bracket on far lower salaries compared to the players that they are replacing, and obviously have relegation clauses written into the contracts.

Even if we survive this season, we are going to be seriously up against it for the next two to three years due to the limited amounts we will be able to spend. There is no quick fix and we have to place all of our trust in Lampard and Thelwell that they're are the right people to identify the right players that can help us stay in this league, or get back into it if the worst happens.

Well, the normal 'standard' is to start at the top and work down. But, of course, we are Everton so we will probably commence with the ball boys/girls then the gate men/ladies, cleaners, stewards...whilst all the time ignoring the real problem is within our Boardroom. Anyways, I'm sure BK will wax lyrical about the days we used to play the likes of Blackburn Rovers, PNE, Blackpool and how it brings a tear to his eye recalling the likes of Tom Finney, Nat Lofthouse, Stan Mortenson...et al who he watched from the boys pen when he wasn't getting rolled for his undies.

IF we go down, be damned lucky to hold on to Gordon

Vultures will be circling over the carcass
Gordon still has 3 more years contract after this one...he is going nowhere unless they are paying stupid money. And bearing in mind how other teams have really taking advantage of us in recent years, I would not sale him for less than 100 millions

He isn't worth 50 mil now.

I agree he won't go for 15 mil, but I think it will be more like 30.
You don't get a Brazilian international for 30 millions and less when he is an attacking player...richy will go this summer whether we are relegated or not...expecting the fee to be upwards of 50 millions at least
