I've wanted us to "moneyball" it for years. Regardless of league status. Far too often we've spent big money with zero returns. Buying players who are a big name or play for a big club. It doesn't work on a financial level or on the pitch.
I'd like to see us buy hungry players from around us/slightly below our position. With the aim of having them eager to play and impress and with the promise that, if a "bigger" club comes calling, we'll happily be a stepping stone. Now at first, this sounds daft and many wouldn't be on board because "we need to keep these players and build around them" We don't.
If we can purchase players who are eager to play, who know we're a stepping stone to the next stage of their career, we win in 2 ways. A, we have players actually giving 100% and B, we make a big profit on the player. With this money, we can purchase 2-3 new players and the cycle continues until we're in a position where the players can only move to the very top clubs (therefore giving us bigger profits) or stick around.
This eradicates our FFP problems and most importantly, stops this club becoming a place for players to pick up a huge wage and do nothing.
If we stay up, we need to quickly adopt this method, if we go down, we'll have no choice.
