If you're a blue of a certain age and need cheering up

He said something like “Sorry about your dream final, but bollocks to it, and that’s spelled with a double L”.

Again, that captured the whole vibe of that time! Joe Royle and the 1995 Dogs of War.

People laugh at me when they see that the PIN number to my phone is 1995, but I don’t care. 1995 was an absolute dream for me!

Remember going that semi on way back on coach coming down queens drive and stopping in heavy traffic on the other side was the Leeds players bus they just played the other shower.all the players come to our side of the bus and started clapping us as we were singing just topped a great day..

I'm 31 years old and I've seen us win diddly squat. Funny, that.

You need to pay more attention mate

I went to the game with Eddie Cavanagh, on the car park after the game we bumped into Labby, Kenwright and Jenny Seagrave, spent the whole drive home listening to what Eddie would do if he got a grip of Jenny!

This has probably been posted (??), but it's the full game of us v spurs in the 95 semi. One of our best performances in my life time! I hadnt spotted it before on youtube but if you have a an hour or 2, kick back, get a Belgian beer, enjoy and relive the moment. I didnt go, but managed to kick a cup through a patio window whilst celebrating Matt Jacksons opener. My mum wasnt happy!

I caught the back end of us winning leagues and cups in the Eighties which I am so fortunate to have done, but this was one of the top performances that came around after a pretty turgid spell - against a team that were being touted by all media as the nailed on winners.

Things to note:
The style of football on show was by far, more entertaining /fun than the tippy tap stuff we see today - I think
We knew how to take a corner - c/o Andy Hinchcliffe
Joe Parkinson was boss
Anders Limpar was a talent
David Unsworth at that time had pace
We worked our b*ll*x off
John Motson was a decent commenator
Clattering challenges were allowed
Semi Finals shouldnt be held at Wembley
Our fans can destroy any opposing fans - COYB

Football, before it became a Sky product was a thousand times what it is today. I used to breathe it, now I don't even look at results.

The mother of all matches.

I have written many times on this forum about how that Spurs semi final at Leeds is my best ever memory in over half a century of following our beloved club around England and indeed Europe.

We stayed in a village outside of Leeds the Saturday night before the game and there were loads of Everton in the village that night.

The landlord in the pub put a spread on for us at lunchtime on the Sunday ( the kick off was 4 p.m. or a bit later).

They gave us three sides of the ground and the only roar that came close to the noise we made when the teams came out was the roar when Doucs scored v Bornemouth in 2022.

Spurs were beaten from the moment they heard that noise and saw a sea of blue three on sides of the stadium.

Happy days 😊

In the spirit of spoiling what was otherwise a lovely post, a pedant writes;
The KO was either Noon, 1.00pm or somewhere in between as the Palace v ManUre SF at Villa Park was the 4.00pm ish game. We knew Everton had won easily at our KO.
My boss at the time was Spurs and he went. Said it felt like an away game because of the seating arrangements.🤣

Great day with the new owners and new stadium, we live in hope that days like that one and the final against United are just around the corner again.

We've been crap for most of the past almost 40 years, but this club really is a massive sleeping giant imo.

We just need the right people in the key departments to get it out of it's slumber.

This game, and the Stockport cup (ebbrell goal) county game (Which I think Dyhe played in?) and The Ferguson & Rideout derby are all core Everton memories for me.

Nothing else comes close.
Well that semi final and final in 1995, and that derby win in Big Joes first game as manager.

Thirty years later and those games are still in my top three favourite Everton moments in my time as a fan.

We had some good moments under Moyes and Martinez but close but no cigar in terms of trophies sadly.
