2024/25 Iliman Ndiaye

Because I think he can struggle to pick a pass at times, great that he dribbles a lot but something on the end of it would be great - feels kind of like what Moyes was saying in that there’s more to come from him. That said he definitely seems to be a far better threat already under Moyes, as I said not camped on the 18 yard line and being allowed to push higher up to start counters definitely suits him more.

Moyes a as always good at not rimming a player too well. Always areas to improve. Remember he said it about Rooney when Rooney was doing mad things beyond any of his colleagues at 16.

Everything about that goal was boss. The build up from the back. The dummy Tarkowski? Sells his man with.
The interplay between Ndiaye and Gueye to set him off on his dribble.

That’s before we even get to the good part.
Yes. Looks like an individual goal but actually the bit of earlier build up was key. Getting the ball to his feet, in a bit of space having moved their players around gave him the opportunity to do his magic.

Too many times this season the ball has just been launched in his general direction.

He’s often had 2 men on him and zero support every time he received the ball, because our early season tactic of “give the ball to Ndiaye to run up the pitch with it” had been sussed out by like his 3rd game.

Great to finally see other players involved in the build up to goals.

This is the key. Under Dyche every player was defensive first, he was the only one that seemed to break that mold, or at least he tried. Stuck out on the left made it easy for teams to double up on him.

We saw that if he is played centrally and with being allowed to drift it is very hard to double up defensively, with the added fact that there are now other players around him looking to be on the front foot more it is extremely difficult for a team (especially one that is as disorganised as Spurs were) to shut him down for 90 minutes.

Now put a genuine number ten in there on top who defenders have to be wary of, and you'd see Ndiaye with even more space and service
