Improving Everton's Profile

Merchandise should be everywhere!
In sports shops, in shopping centres, department stores - soft furnishings, in airports - people buy a lot of stuff in airports.
Making a profit shouldn't be the biggest concern, but improving access to all things Everton.
I mean with Chang as our sponsor there should at least be an Everton shop in Bangkok city and at the airport.

People need to see the club's name, like they do for Barca, Real, United, PSG, Bayern.
Huge potential out there, just not with kitbag.

Stadium tours - seriously promote them to visitors to Liverpool. Sell tickets for tours at the airport and city centre. Run a free bus out to the stadium for those who purchase a tour ticket. Set up a decent museum either in, or beside the stadium. Incorporate a whole day of Everton, including meals, possibly visits to the training ground complex, even meeting players where possible.

Sell match tickets at the airport! Someone flying through might buy them as a present for someone or a future visit. A shop at Liverpool airport. It would make sense to me.

There is no Everton merchandise on sale at Liverpool airport.

But plenty of stinking red

I've said before.... All that keeps this club from taking off stateside is some proper US marketing.... We have the star US player, our side is consistently good, but not so that supporters will be banded glory seekers (though with this transfer window and bobby who know about the future!). And it is a real team, with history, depth, pride and most of all passion and a genuine supporter base (plus the Toffee nickname is brilliant). All of these things would connect with folks in the states. Plus the product on the pitch this year will be boss!

Americans like to advertise their team allegiances.....we need some tshirts and ball caps over here yesterday to cash in on Howard's moment.

Wouldn't hurt to have a friendly here either....maybe next year. (Houston please - even though it is ungodly hot here....)

We're probably the best placed team in the prem to market to the US's untapped fans (with the exception of the glory-hunters OFC). We're an honest, community and fan based club, owned by a local fan, going up against the big guns who have all this foreign money. We're from a city they know and love (One of only a handful you know pretty much every American will know of), we have probably the most famous current US footballer in our squad, we've had the other most famous footballer (Donovan) in the past. We have history, pride, success and fans who love their club with a ferocity and loyalty second to none! It's like story straight out of a Hollywood film! If you find a salesman who can't sell that in the US, then they're certainly in the wrong job

Win the Europa League.

Reckon we have a boss opportunity to. Only Inter Milan & Spurs have lower odds than us with the bookies currently. Starting straight from the group stages should help.

I think we need to have a serious go at the Europa League. Win that, and we'll become instantly more popular + well known. High profile victories in europe - check. Major trophy - check. Champions league spot - check. Not to mention it will give our young stars plenty of european experience for when we do eventually play CL football.

We need to get out the ridiculous kit deals for a start. Then we need to tap into America one way or another. WIN STUFF. Have big entertaining players (American sports are very dramatic), and we need to exploit things i.e. Cahill in aus (been and gone) and Tim in the US now.

Interesting to see how the club has failed so far to make the most of what happened in the world cup with Tim Howard and to an extent Bobby doing punditry too. Should've been our oppo to push into the American markets and make inroads. Still think that the doco would be a good idea, end up striking while the iron is still burning hot in the US.

We haven't even made decent strides into Ireland yet so I'm not shocked we haven't taken advantage of opportunities in the States

American sports is all about perception if you ask me
They love the background story to clubs - tradition, history, famous players, storied stadium etc
Everton need to sell that

A a load of merchandise

Bruce Willis narrating a documentary type programme all about Everton would be a start.

Working class hero and all that.

This thread is largely irrelevant.
I've just started thinking about how I could add and then thought 'it's Everton'. Every opportunity since the fourth place finish had been wasted. Why should we expect any different?
We got a dough deal with kitbag because we were desperate. Until that deal runs out or were in a position to renegotiate it the clubs marketing arm's hands (excuse the pub) are tied.
