it's those positives are making us sillyThere are positives to be found within this season though without being silly about it.
Looking up never found a full back in the top 3 assister in Dyche's time at Burnley in prem. Expected that a bit to be fair, expect one of that was a set piece taker. He doesn't use attacking full backs in the Prem and always goes after defend first ones.
Important point is "in the Prem", however - Trippier was assisting for fun in the Championship but reverted to 3 assists in 38 games in the Prem every single time. Don't think it's some wacky coincidence.
I get that but he's usually given as this "Dyche found the best attacking full back" example - but he's not done a lot with him at a higher level. He's gone to other teams and looked instantly much better and much more attacking too.Looking up never found a full back in the top 3 assister in Dyche's time at Burnley in prem. Trippier, obviously cannot be compared to do it in the 2 different levels . He wasn't really a high assister under Poch either, but played around 25 games most of the seasons, in this case 4-6 assists are a good output. I remember Spurs being quite attacking then???
Same at Atletico, where full back mostly contributes a few assists under Simeone, especially until like 2-3y ago.
Eddie Howe known also for playing quite attacking since Bmouth. I know he makes also the majority of set pieces at Newcastle when fit now as well and is one of the best taker in the league that adds to it.
To be fair, I understand Godfrey to play RB for example in games like Rs where defending is more needed than the attack for full back, but also wish to play a bit more attacking against teams like Sheffield or Luton with Patterson, when they are available. Yes, Dyche sides will always rather be top 5 defense than attack.I get that but he's usually given as this "Dyche found the best attacking full back" example - but he's not done a lot with him at a higher level. I get the flat 4 approach too, it's not usually pretty but it works - Mourinho was/is famous for it too, but you need to have forward play to compensate and we don't, that's the issue really.
A marvellous up turn in form since the humiliation at Chelsea, if Dyche can get “his” players, and bypass the DoF who has wasted tens of millions, is it a possibility???
Could the gaffer lead us back to a nice European tour in the same year we take residence in our new home
They are/were but they still looked and played differently and offered overlaps, whereas ours don't. EDIT: As further proof - Coleman's top assists during his entire career was 5, but he's always been known as an attacking full back. Bizarrely you'd assume in a Dyche team they'd offer early crosses at least but they don't, they tuck inside a bit to prevent counters even further. To be fair, I understand Godfrey to play RB for example in games like Rs where defending is more needed than the attack for full back, but also wish to play a bit more attacking against teams like Sheffield or Luton with Patterson, when they are available. I think tactical reasons, but also the fact of the better teams, and Newcastle, Atletico, and Spurs are way superior of a premier league Burnley. Defo helps full backs also to contribute more, to upgrade from Danny Ings to Suarez or Kane that are top 10 striker in the world.
Looked up, Howe's Bournemouth FB were also around these 3-4 at max.
That’s huge imo. I would take 2/3 points than this seasonLet's not raise expectations too high.
10-11th would represent plenty of decent progress.
