Is everyone over reacting?

Doesnt matter mate... Sam does what Sam does. Our squad is not equipped to play his style of football - it wouldn't surprise me if we took longer then 10 games to start seeing any results.
I really hope you're wrong. Because this is a gamble by us. If it doesn't pay off, we are in real trouble. The sort that takes years to fix. That's why I'm going to willing Allerdyce to succeed. Not because I'm happy or I like him

It's not an overreaction it's a settling for a manager whose ambition is to avoid relegation and who will manage and talk about the club as if it's a plucky underdog from the moment he's in charge - its a narrative that suits his limitations.

He plays awful football, equips his team's with massive 30+ grocks and 'hard men' at the expense of youth, his behaviour is laughable as a representative of Everton, he reeks of cronyism, he's corrupt through and through and he'll be paid more than the likes of Simeone and Zidane for the job.

He guarantees nothing and there's nothing safe about this rustlers burger of a man.

The thing is it is like watching your absolute life long best mate going through a crisis.

His dull but very stable and ultimately happy marriage ended after 13 years - his life left him for a billionaire but it ended badly.
He couldn't believe his luck when a Spanish student moved in, they had parties every night in the first year but she would never do her share of the boring stuff like emptying the bin and kept going on about philosophy but never went to the lectures.
He won the lottery and binned her
He needed someone to build a new house and asked a no nonsense Dutch architect, who was a famous model in her day, to move in. She had done some decent work on the south coast after a project in Spain had failed badly. For some reason the architect forgot the foundations and roof and just kept ordering bathroom suites. It became clear the relationship was over and neither of them actually were that bothered about eachother.
So he went internet dating, dismissing Fat Samantha straight away, she'd been around the block and had a string of failed relationships. Friends and family warned him off but after the third flood in 7 days he decided she would at least act as a sandbag. She turned up with a liter of supermarket vodka, a half eaten meat feast and a carton of cigarettes and he is about to welcome her in.
Would you warn him off?

Whoever we appointed was a massive gamble, I think thats the thing I am trying to get people to understand when am saying that the option wasn't just Sam.

Pep would be a gamble, anyone right now would. All know is we do not have the squad to play his style, and I am willing to bet that come January the atmosphere will be a lot more toxic then it is right now.

I am just looking at the bigger picture and seeing what the ripples 3 years down the line will be when he will be gone, and he will be one way or another.

This was what he said 6 months ago...

""This is the right time for me, I know that in my heart. I have no ambitions to take another job, I simply want to be able to enjoy all the things you cannot really enjoy with the 24/7 demands of managing any football club, let alone one in the Premier League."

£6.5m a year offer and he has well and truly bent us over.

Oh we also have to pay £2m to Palace....

We do like paying out the compo don't we.

But the 'best' don't want to manage Everton!

That's the point!

Whether we like it or not, that's the reality

There is "better" then Allardyce. The world outside the hyperbole of the premier league is full of talented managers, just the fact the club are shithouses and refuse to do anything different.

What was it Einstein said about insanity??

We can never expect to improve by only hiring managers who have experience on these shores.

I find it more embarrassing in a new era where we're meant to be flexing our muscles and showing the prem we can be one of the big boys, we've gone out and got a manager the other struggling teams aren't after. A manager who is known for 2 things....relegation escapes and being dodgy.

The days of being plucky little everton were meant to have gone. They're here, stronger than ever. If you're simply ok with that and think fans are being pathetic being upset with it...you're part of the reason the board gets away with this.

I'll be honest, i'm absolutely gutted.

I wouldn't trust the board with feeding my cat on the basis that they're hiring Sam Allardyce FFS.

They could barely manage a worse appointment. When I say any half-competent manager would keep us up this season, I mean it - it's not difficult to bring someone in who isn't an actual proven crook, corrupt as the day is long and has a track record of leaving clubs in worse states than he arrived.
I don't like this anymore than you. But this is the situation we're in. It's why I'm willing to give him a chance. It should never have come to this though. The board has questions it needs to answer

Really don’t understand the hand in the till argument. He WASN’T sacked for taking £500k on the sly. He told them he would have to run it past the FA first. He was sacked for saying he knew how to get round third party ownership and for being an idiot.

I don’t want him but needs must and the only thing I would say is he has been saying for years that Everton is a great club. I think he gets us, he will help turn us round but in the minds of us being a progressive club he doesn’t fit the bill.

Re Shakespeare, isn’t he the only first team coach to have led a non-Sky six club to the league title? Sammy Lee can do one.

He and his son got basically caught taking money for signing certain players a few years ago. The agent would charge a premium, Allardyce would sanction the buy and the clubs cookie jar wouldn't even know it was being dipped in to. The other thing when England manager was just the cherry on top of an already well established cake - the man is corrupt, end of story.

At least he will a way of playing football. At the min they haven’t got a clue how to kick a ball

Staying up is all that matters this season and if means getting big sam in then im happy.

This exactly.
Say we had a list of 10 and Sam was 10 then we have been through all the other 9 and Sam was the first to say yes.
What's the problem here. We need a manager and he is the best who would come.
People should be moaning at the ones who turned us down for not having the balls for a fight.
