Is Harry Kane the modern day Gary Lineker?

I would say that Kane is a better footballer and they both have similar levels of finishing ability.
If we’re doing this just as PL players Kane didn’t score goals at the rate Haaland does.

I honestly think Haaland is underrated at this point. If he plays in the PL until he is 30 he’ll breeze past Shearer. He’s got a real shot to pass Greaves as top scorer ever in England. The return is absolutely absurd.

Kane didn't start his PL career at Man City.

Yes, if we are just talking goalscoring stats then Haaland has the potential to eclipse the records.

Taking stats away from it Kane is the better footballer, would you agree?

To be honest, not sure he will be a better footballer than a lot of the strikers who have graced the Prem, he may beat their scoring records but won't be seen as a better footballer. Shearer, Henry, Rooney were all unplayable at times, even if the team was struggling. You feel that Haaland needs that team aspect, and if they are down he is not a player that can do it on his own and lift the team.

I think the footballer who scores the most goals has a very good shout as being the best footballer

It doesn’t though right, I mean follow that logic all the way through up and down the table.

Striker you ref, plays for the best team in the league, has the best GPG ratio, which you place great importance on over Kane, who doesn't play for a great team, then bring Aguero into it, not realising he - also played for best team in the leauge - also has a better GPG rartio to Kane, hmm.

Basically, you didn't check numbers before posting did you.

No, not necessarily.

There are so many things to consider. Is Kane a better footballer than Gazza? No, so saying footballer could mean various positions, various skill sets.

Kane is a very good all round footballer. You could see him playing in different positions and still getting a good game out if him. I can't see Haaland doing that, I may be proved wrong but he is a goalscorer and that is it.

As Nymzee has said, the team around them have to be looked at.

That is the subjective stuff, you are looking at a stat and going 'He must be better than the guy who didn't score as many goals', without considering that football is so much more than numbers on a page. Kane is an extremely clever footballer. For that I would put him above most players that have played in the Premiership.
