Is Sam that bad?

Problem with this is there should be but can we really trust Everton to get them? Are they really going to want to work with Walsh? The fact that we did go for Silva says a lot about the board at Everton, we have no long term vision
I'm living in hope that Walsh will be gone along with Sam at the end of the season. If that doesn't come to pass then I'll be reaching for more bleach. It doesn't change the fact that blubber arse isn't fit for purpose.

I really wanted him to surprise us all and show he was a master of selection and delivering a great team with players who are much better than he's had in the past.

What he's delivered is massive frustration and bizzare team selection.

I dont think he knows what to do except park the bus against the bug 6 and then we take a tonking or only get 1 shot on goal.

Sorry Sam. Its a disappointed No from me.

yes he is that bad, we havent had a go at the top clubs since martinez left, and this guys no different. The new manager effect saved us from the drop, when that wore off it became clear he makes the same mistakes as koeman. Let him finish the season then start afresh.

Hear me out

8 games played against sides outside the top 6, Won 5, 2 draws and 1 loss

So basically we have picked up 17 points out of 24 out of games we would expect to win, whichever way you spin that it's a very good return

Now obviously we've been shocking against the top 6 sides but this is nothing new and goes back years

Does he deserve a second season?
He is ok today!

I do not like his approach of abandoning games against the top six sides, and our general approach away from home.

Surely we are safe now and can afford to play with a little more freedom.

I expected that he would get us results against sides 7th and below, and by and large he has.

There is the argument that our form against the top six, and away form in general are longstanding problems, that no Everton manager in recent times has managed to reverse.

That, and the dearth of quality in the squad, are mitigating circumstances in his favour.

He will ensure our safety and that is what I expected from him. The Spurs / Arsenal and one or two other games have left a bad taste though.

I was for his appointment, and I think we might go on another run now.

But it's simple really. We can do better and we must use the time between now and May to try and secure a manager who can bring longer-term stability and a vision of progress to the club. We get that guy and Sam goes.

But I don't think it's a given with the way we do things. He got the job in the first place because he was second choice on a shortlist of one.

I'd give him 5 out of 10, he has preformed more or less as I expected, but certainly has not done anything beyond that at all.

A side low on confidence, a defence who are all over the place and have been all season, god forbid the manager actually manages the game at 3-0 and shuts up shop, he'd have been slaughtered if he'd brought on an attacker and we'd have blew the lead

Have to agree that it was right to close the game out. We used to criticise Martinez because he would throw away points and couldn't see a game out.

To be blunt it was a perfect Fat Sam game.

We were better than them and we knocked it long into positions that meant we could take full advantage of that superiority.

Fat Sam is like a decent boxer who has ended up on the doors. He knows how to spark the majority of punters but hasn't got a clue when it comes to someone who is a bit quicker or more intelligent.

We were in relegation trouble like a [Poor language removed] boozer that was being overrun by idiots. Fat Sam has sorted the local idiots but has now idea to move onto the next level. He will never attract or want the superior clientele.

For me say well done but we know your limitations and we want better.

Agreed with the OP right up until you asked if Big Sam derserves a second season. Does he f##k! He's only here out of necessity and hopefully will be gone within twenty-four hours of the final whistle of the last game of the season. Any half competent manager would of secured a similar return that we've managed under Big Sam, it's just a shame that the last two managers we've had have been clueless fools.

He blags it. Sometimes it comes off , sometimes it doesn't.

We need a consistent approach , both from the management team and the players if we are ever to push on.

He's done exactly what everyone expected. We've beaten teams we expect to beat; drawn some we expected to lose; lost some we hoped not to lose; and been battered a couple of times.

Some people will always suggest there was no relegation fear this season, even after Southampton. But most people know things were looking terrible. Southampton was the most I've feared relegation since the 90s. Neither a defensive Koeman nor a more attacking Unsworth could stop the rot. He deserves credit for doing that, despite the results against Spurs, Arsenal, Bournemouth and West Brom.

He was only ever going to convince the fans and keep the job long-term if he performed better than expected. I don't think that can happen now. But hopefully things will improve further still in the next 11 games. For me that means maintaining the home form, improving the away form, and a derby victory.
