Is Sam that bad?

He's an average premier league manager. Interchangeable with Moyes or Koeman in my opinion. Pragmatic, can get a team to a certain level, makes infuriating choices etc. Sam just has more of a rep prior to joining us than the other pair.

He's pie, chips and gravy. We're after something sexier like
Aberdeenshire Beef Cheek and Bavette, shallot, charcoal emulsion, salsify, and nasturtiums.

What was Martinez and Koeman then?

Hear me out

8 games played against sides outside the top 6, Won 5, 2 draws and 1 loss

So basically we have picked up 17 points out of 24 out of games we would expect to win, whichever way you spin that it's a very good return

Now obviously we've been shocking against the top 6 sides but this is nothing new and goes back years

Does he deserve a second season?

Sorry mate but the league is made up of more than 14 teams.
Close thread.

He is good in his Job...and that is to save teams from relegation. His England appointment shows he aint Nobody...BUT....his Everton appointment was his chance to show that he can evolve.

Thats the Key part innit.
He hasnt done that.

Moshiri has seen it.

We will have a new manager who can take us to the next level after the season is done

Mind you, if we finish top eight, and I think we will, he'll still be here next season

Yes, yes he is. Because he is very negative and won't set up in a manner to attack any team away from home. He's good at one thing scraping to forty but he doesn't have ambition beyond that and his mindset and tactics have a negative influence in the long term. If you want 10th every year he is your man. For me get to 40 and move him on.

Yes it is and at one point we looked like we would be dragged into the bottom 5, don't forget that 4-1 against Southampton, It was a good job he came in when he did to halt the slide

It isn't 1 win though is it?

we've been decent against anyone outside the top 6 for the majority of the time
could say the same before he took over though. We’d won 4 of 7 home games when he took charge, and have won 4 of 7 home games since. The only sides to beat us at home are above us in the table. Nothings changed.

If he gets us to 7th and we move him on there should be no hard feelings. Especially if it means Europa. He should be remembered for getting us safe when where abysmal. Everyone was truly worried about relegation. He comes in we go 7 games unbeaten a draw at the pit when all expected a 5nil bumming and then all of a sudden people get short memories when the purple patch ended.

If he had come in and we still where getting battered by bottom clubs and he gradually got us to safety in the nick of time he would be remembered more fondly.

But as cruel as it seems to me all signs do point towards him not being the man to take us further. Even though if you told me at the start of his reign we'd be on for Europe I'd of said he is the man. It's complicated.

As a stop-gap he's done alright, and he should stay until the management have made a sensible decision on a new permanent manager (i.e. not someone who has managed to win a couple of games with the likes of Southampton or Watford).
