Is "The Athletic" worth it?

I guess it depends what your interests are a little bit. Personally I don't find the non-Everton stuff meh at all. IMO there are loads of good articles that you wouldn't get in the mainstream

I do like the 'how this transfer happened' type articles or 'inside the manager sacking', but I'm not going to read the likes of Carl Anka, Michael Cox, or Jack Pitt-Brooke - who are constantly pushed to the forefront, that stuff doesn't interest me one bit

Same with the stuff they get from former players too. Shearer constantly talking himself up while talking about Messi? No ta

Yeah I agree the Shearer stuff is proper dull. As is Anka. Don't mind Cox and JPB too much. I quite like the stuff you get about more obscure stuff, and other countries/leagues

Anka - absolutely dreadful, no idea how he has a gig
Cox - A very strange man who is always wrong. Also extremely arrogant.

JPB - tbf, not met him but he's supposedly sound.

Had it on a £1 per month deal for a year. Read maybe five or six articles in that time.

I might be tempted to sign up again on the same offer, but certainly not full price.

I had it for a bit and there's some good writers on there. However, i found myself not reading it as much as I should have.

One word of warning, be braced for a battle trying to cancel the damn thing. I cancelled and twice it automatically renewed itself for two years running. And then arguing that it was even harder. From what I've read I'm not the only one who's had the same problem.

Lizards.

I have it but not for the Everton coverage (it's alright but nothing special). There is however lots of good articles if you're interested in non-PL stuff.

Word of warning though, it's absolutely rammed with awful kopite fanzine writers. When they're not fawning over everything LFC do they're writing pieces trying to link our new stadium to some slave merchant who died hundreds of years ago. It makes me feel sick a bit knowing my subscription goes to paying these losers' salaries.

worth it at the £1 a month and even that is being generous.

The amount of 'Our writer played Football Manager with Newcastle see how he got on' pieces they do is a joke and not journalism.

The odd long piece on everton are alright but even then the main bits get dished out by mates/social media so not worth buying it
