Confirmed Signing Jack Harrison

Dyche prefers to play crap players who are super fit, than good players who have satisfactory fitness levels.
It's more the idea that players are not fit enough to play 15 minutes off the bench. We had 2 strikers sat in the stand rather than sat on the bench, and another striker on the bench who he didn't bring on.

Games are not played 11 v 11 anymore, you need to have impact from your subs.

The proof will be in the pudding. After 10 games we'll know a lot more about where we are at as a club. If we only have a few points by then, Dyche's cautious approach and tendency to start very slow in seasons, will be questioned.

It doesn't help the manager of course that we never do early transfer business.

"Thelwell persistent in securing one of clubs main targets"

If he was a main target why wasn't this done at the start of the transfer window given the clause he has in his contract.
More importantly why wasn't it done before he picked his injury up. Myers does add absolute nonsense to his posts "main targets" my arse.

The club maybe weren't aware that you are allowed to do deals at the start of pre-season. How were they supposed to know.

Lets be honest mate, I've points scored on flimsier grounds than this!

I'm glad if the deal gets done myself, we had a CM right mid on sat.
Come to expect it from you - no inch given 😂🤝

I’m glad we’ve got this done. Maybe slightly fortunate Villa had reservations due to his injury (Ornstein has said from Villa’s side) but when ultimately when fit, he’s a good option and instantly adds depth and competition.

A long term target and one they’ve liked for a long time.

@ForeverEverton can you break this down with a nice graph please ?

It sounds like there might be some uncertainty over just how bad the injury is. Do Villa think it's more serious than we do?

What sort of timeline are we looking at - is some point in September for a return realistic?

Honestly I wouldn't be surprised that this was to save wages.

Think he suits our style of play more than Gray. Works hard, direct and chips in regularly with goals and assists. Getting him for no outlay and being able to sell Gray for £10 million or more is smart business. I never thought I’d type that sentence in relation to Everton’s transfer dealings.
He’s a 1000 times better than Gray

I said I wanted him back in December, so I'm happy with this signing. I've always thought he would be a good fit for Everton and would add balance from being left sided. But how successful the deal will be is going to be dictated a lot by how bad his injury is.

If he is back at some point in September then the deal will be worth it. If it takes 2-3 months for him to be deemed fit by Dyche then the deal becomes a lot more risky. My concern would be mainly around the levels of fitness needed for Dyche to consider a player for selection. If he is only fit in 3 weeks, then he might need a month's training, and we are in mid October. Let's hope he's available after the next international break.
You also wanted Lampard to be manager, as did I.

Let’s see how he does.

...or he's been injured all summer anyway 🤷‍♂️

The club's slowness during transfer windows in general does my head in as much as anyone, but in this particular case whether we got him now or a few weeks ago doesn't really matter in the grand scheme of things if he wasn't going to be training/on the pitch straight away anyway..

And Arteta before that when Silva was sacked, so swings and roundabouts lol

I still maintain that Lampard lost his job due to abysmal recruitment and an appalling transfer window last summer. But what's done is done. There should be no more managerial changes while Moshiri and BK remain at the club.

If he was our no.1 target as suggested, then we would surely have been happy to sign him even if we knew he would miss half a dozen games. Either he wasn't our number 1 target and this was a reactionary signing to Saturday, or he was our no.1 target all along and our strategy was a bit flawed.

And then his record at Chelsea when he returned?
