Why would anyone use our name to smoke out suitors? It’s not like other clubs would be saying ‘oh look Everton are interested - let’s have a look at the kid, he must be some player’.

Quite frankly given our recent transfer dealings, if we were interested and I was another club, I’d run the other way.
