Transfer Rumour Jaden Philogene

He’s alright yeah?

Top dribbler is a bit of a mad one.

I weirdly think he’d have been an alright centre mid in a three once upon a time but he’s too old to start moving centrally now/not good enough.

Think he’ll end up back around a Burnley type club, be good for your Ipswich/Leicester types.

Too old to do something? He's just turned 25 mate not 40

And yeh, I think he's a top dribbler. Ranks high stats wise for it too vs other mids.

He gives the ball away too much there for me, which tbf can be improved with more time there. What I don't think can be improved though is how completely one sided he is, he breaks down attacks trying to stay on his left at all costs.

People like Downing had solid careers being completely one-footed.

From what I recall Downing was a winger but had some brief success as a 10 for West Ham.

I think when we play crap teams, he can be the 10. But against anyone half decent he should stay out wide.

I personally would play him on the right, to cut onto his left, and have a right back who overlaps. But obviously that's not how Dyche uses fullbacks.

To develop into a central player yeah. You need to be a top quality player/two footer/serious athlete to be in there having played on the wing for years.

Playing centrally requires some hefty wing mirrors, especially that 10 role (or the 6 on the opposite end of it). He hasn’t got them as he’s used to having specific angles to worry about having played out wide for ten years or so.

Players like Lahm have gone in there under elite managers and they’re also exceptionally clever footballers. McNeil is a one paced winger with a superb left foot.

No one talks about how one footed N'Diaye is. It's overblown, agreed.

It's not just only using one foot to kick the ball. It's being able to receive the ball from either side and go both ways and dynamically change in the dribble.

The lack of the above is what makes McNeil so painfully one-footed. Ndiaye, on the other hand, can do all above, even if he will only kick it with his right 90% of the time.

I was going for someone more in his stratosphere, and to back up a point made earlier in some thread that you really only hear that about left footed players.
There’s a real phenomena in play here and it’s due to the way players pass/receive a ball usually. Players will almost always pass a ball for a right footed player unless there’s a clear barrier (e.g passing wide to left back on the touchline/right sided centre back passing across to the left sided). If they’re passing in more congested areas e.g centrally then they don’t have that split second time to tweak the delivery.

This usually only takes a tiny adjustment from the receiver but the perception is they looked far more one footed (they have to adjust body shape/angle to receive naturally ).

Weird timing!

Lad played the full game against Bayern in the champions league.

Fairly sure his agent will be all "You can do better"

Clearly fell out with Emery after he got sent off earlier in the season too

Signed back as a PSR trick and then used by Emery who seems to think he has something that he cant unlock.

The kid probably needs a run of games and coaching like Iroegbunam. Have to wonder what they do at Villa.

Yes, I'm sure getting 'coached' by Dyche rather than Unai Emery will unlock the potential in any player........

Don't know why the Villa board haven't thought about this........
