Transfer Rumour Jaden Philogene

We’ll be lucky to see him before April with the way Dyche uses new signings.

Lack of match fitness will be cited first, then needing a bit more time to familiarise himself "with the group", finally followed by a good period "on the grass"!

Remember the days before transfer windows when someone signed at 4:59pm on a Friday and was in the starting line-up at 3pm the next day.

£13mil would make sense on a 5 year deal, £2.6mil a year for PSR which would probably be covered with Beto's loan fee.

Is he better on the left or right? Seems like a right footed left winger...but i think in the summer i may have thought he was two footed :)
It wouldn't be as low as £13m. Never know though and I wouldn't be surprised to see some Iroegbunam/Dobbin type deal to be thrashed out. Not sure who I'd want now though from your squad as it'd need to be someone who is first-team squad ready and with the greatest of respect there's not many from your team that would get into ours just now. I'll take that young centre half off your hands, mind..

Couple of things about this for me. Firstly is that he's the type of player we need on the RW and in the squad in general. We have it in Ndiaye and he seems a similar profile to me in regards to his pace, unpredictability and trickiness. Secondly is that Thelwell is trying to sign the right type of players and model for the future of the club and what direction the club needs to go in terms of modern football and the league. Thirdly, despite all this, with Dyche at the helm he will suffer from the same as Ndiaye has. He'll have moments but until we have a structure and style in place from a manager who can get the best out of a front three, we won't truly see him shine. Good start though if this goes through.

This absolutely stinks. Philogene started at Villa, had loan spells at Stoke and Cardiff, joined Hull City in 2023 for £5 million, and returned to Villa in 2024 for £18 million, and now they are selling him again?

Are we now the Monaco of football clubs to launder PSR players through?

He's played on the right and hasn't been on the left at all - that's Rogers' area, and when he's more central then either McGinn or Ramsey will fill that space. The system I refer to is that the wide right player has to do a lot of defensive work and then when we transition we don't do it to a point where a winger let's say can go flying down the line with only one or two players with him. So, he's more likely to have to check back, recycle, and bring more players into the attack. That's specific to the right as our attacks tend to be more left focussed with Digne getting high up the pitch and overloads created there. The right-back is very rarely involved in the attack which means the right winger/midfielder gets little support on the ball in attacking areas (when transitioning).
Oh great.. doesn't bode well for us with Dyche then  🫣

Ta mate
