If Unsworth is right about the ammount of youth ready to make the step up then combined with some decent new signings would be a perfect scenario. As has already been stated, there is too much deadwood hanging around that simply aren't good enough.

We can have 10/11 players leave without really affecting our 1st eleven too much. The likes of Hibbert, Gibson, Pienaar, McGeady, Niasse, Oviedo (maybe), Howard (we need a new keeper anyway) were hardly first team regulars. Depending on how our manager recruitment goes and how the Euros go I can see Lukaku leaving, but I'm not sure about anyone else.

Of course those who leave will need replacing but I'm hopeful the majority of our better players will stay.

I understand what he is saying but we should not restrict ourselves in the manager mkt due to the expected player and squad transitions.

We should welcome the opportunity to improve as long as we make the right buys.

Much as he's done a fine job and scored goals this past season, I would consider selling Aaron Lennon. His market value has potentially increased and he's not a nailed-on starter, so if we could improve upon the price we paid for him, it might be a sensible move for both parties.

If Aaron stays, and I'd have no problem with that as he seems to have accepted he's not a nailed-on starter, that's 21 with the guys above, so maybe 4 or 5 top quality additions including a No.1 goalie - there's a reasonable chunk if not all of the £100 million 'war-chest' - and we're back to a 25-man squad with experience, youth, and new blood... all being guided by a top class manager with DU paying special attention to the youth who've made the step-up and nurturing more youth.

Wouldn't say it's obvious, but I agree he's probably the most likely to go out of our 'main' players. Wouldn't make losing him any less painful like

We have something mad like 30 professionals on the books, if we want to bring in 4 or 5 new players we will need to get rid of atlease 12/13 players.
I always think a squad of around 19/22 is plenty for a season as you can top up any sort of injury crisis with kids
