Jagielka: There could be 'double figures' leaving Goodison this summer

I just hope we keep Stones: couldn't care less about Rom

If we get a big money offer for Stones tho, lets say 50mil+, I would cash in. I know hes got all the potential in the world and hes young and learning but Ive lost count of the amount of times Ive seen us concede a goal this season because he cant jump off the floor to make a header or hes not tight enough to someone in the box (origi in the derby and aguero in the semi are two examples off the top of my head).

Yes he may improve on this with age and experience but I just dont think he really has a natural defenders instinct and I dont think playing a 'ball playing centre half' is necessary at all really. With that 50 mil we could sign an absolute world class defender who JUST wants to defend and have money left over to spend on an attacking option.

Keep your creative players further up the park and have your players who want to defend at the back. Cruyff turns in your own box get you nowhere.

Good to hear somebody at the club come out and say it. Massive turn over over dead wood required and it looks like that is likely judging by this.

I'd like to see him under a new manager first. He seems a bit weak physically still. Looks more like a Matic kind of player than one of those beasts at the back for Leicester.

All of this makes it so important that the new manager is appointed and in position as quickly as possible.

It is not just the usual "who might we buy over the summer" but there is a massive clear out to be done and the replacement players must be quality.

Leaving the managerial appointment much longer is going to make the new man's job all the more difficult.

All clubs, including those abroad, will be aware that we are going to have to be a spending club, and this means they will hold out for high prices.

However, we cannot afford to be waiting around until the transfer deadline day (as in the past) but need the bulk of our 2016/17 squad signed and delivered in time for pre- season. That is during July!!

Almost all of his mistakes (overplaying, not tight enough etc.) can be put down to inexperience and/or instructions by Martinez and are very fixable IMO. The element that concerns me most is he's incompetence in the air.

Personally, growing up I was raised on the Milan teams of the early-mid 2000s so i've seen and value the impact a one-club world class CB can have (think nesta, maldini, costacurta). So its drives me crazy to think that we could be letting one like Stones go.... he has all the tools to be a great CB

I can't see a new manager persevering with the McCarthy/Barry partnership.

Barry has been one of our better players this season - which perhaps reflects badly on the rest of the squad. He is now approaching the end of his career, so we should be thinking about a replacement - or a new formation. I would have been interested to see Stones tried in his role during his frequent suspensions.

McCarthy should be employed where he can influence the game - denying space to the opposition. And I can still see a major team making a bid for him.

It is usually difficult to recruit several new players and establish them in the first team quickly. Southampton managed it last season - but that was against all the predictions.

Yeah that is the thing. I think under a new manager who will actually teach him how to defend he could come on in leaps and bounds, but he does definitely need to bulk up a bit.

If hes agitating for a move and its silly money then i would be tempted to cash in but if we keep hold of him and he fulfills his potential here i wont be complaining like

Seeing as though Jagielka also thinks that the season wasn't as bad as everyone is making out, I hope he's one of the ten to go.

Made up because they lost two semi finals. No wonder England would rather just have no cover at centre back.

This should force the hand of new manager to promote a few youths, cos as much as we like to point at Moshi's wallet and stuff like an overzealous wag, replacing this level of exodus doesn't come cheap, especially when we are already lacking in some areas - it's possible to spend 100 million and still purchase a Kieran Richardson.

If it's De Boer it could also give him the chance to buy the right players to play his unique brand of footba- oh, wait...

Really badly advised comments for Jagielka to have made, regardless of the truth of it, all this has done is give the papers/media carte blanche to go nuts with 'player exodus', losing all their best players, Stones/barkley/Lukaku all set to leave type stories and rather than the usual nonsense for sources they use - they can now point directly to his comments as their proof for it, additionally has now alerted everyone that we will need to bring in a lot of new faces - which will see a few extra ,million get added on top for anyone we sniff around.

Errrm in no way shape or form can Nesta be described as a one club centre back mate, he played for Lazio from about 17/18 till he was 26 - had about 50 caps for Italy and had won practically everything their was to win already by the time he moved to Milan for huge money

Fair point on the other two though

We have to keep the spine which we are nurturing.

Stones
Barkley
Lukaku

Then I'd keep deulofeu
Besic
Funes Mori
Galloway
Baines
Jagielka

....
They are the ones who I'm personally bothered about.
I'd be happy to sell Lukaku for 60 mill or more.

Now maybe look at getting in yarmalenko. Then the wings would be sorted

Could be good or bad news really. Depends on who's being sold.

Hopefully other than Rom who is surely off, we only lose deadwood.
