Wonder if we move to 3 at the back. Would probably make sense with this lad now, along with our shortage in midfield and full back. 100% could see Dyche having no problem with McNeil and Garner as starting wingbacks in the right system. A good 3-4-3 could do very well for us and probably would suit the squad we have at the minute more than the 4-3-3 / 4-2-3-1 we've been doing.

A good back 3 can make you better defensively while allowing you to add an extra attacker to the lineup. Personally, If O’Brien is ready, I am all for it. It is a big step up for him though so we shall see.

Probably more ready than Branthwaite was coming from a season in the Dutch league, to be fair. Given that Dyche is a manager that builds his team off a solid defending unit first (which isn't a bad thing, Mourinho and Conte do the same) then I think having 3 strong CBs would be great for us. We'd be some threat on set-pieces, too.

I suppose if we see us going for another depth CB then that'd tell a lot given this deal would've been in place before Tarkowski's injury, don't think we're selling Branthwaite this summer and don't think this lad is coming in to be on the bench either. Another CB being brought in would mean when all 3 are fit, all 3 will probably play but if we don't bring someone else in they'll probably expect O'Brien to try back to the bench until next year when Branthwaite probably moves on.

All in all, this deal gives some interesting questions, but almost all of the outcomes are great for us, so I don't mind.

It’s a good signing for me. But it makes me want to bring in the likes of Gnoto as well more. Would be deadly on the counter and out wide.
