2024/25 Jake O'Brien

No one is going to mention it was his won header/flick on to the far post that resulted in Branthwaite winning a penalty and our second goal to ice the game?

Having 2 CB's of that size would be a nightmare at set pieces to defend.
Can't understand all the out swinging free kicks and corners. Put it in on top if the keeper with those 2 units storming in. a nifty inswinger would cause chaos.

No pro badge needed for that effective tactic.

Dyche on Jake O'Brien being overlooked for selection

"The reason why he didn't start is because Michael Keane's had a very strong pre-season and he's a very experienced Premier League player. Jake hasn't got that experience [yet] but he'll learn quickly."
Had to bump this little belter from earlier in this thread.

Jake did fine tonight as he did preseason, but the miracle worker was coming out with this cack for not picking him.

So glad the coward told big Dan he couldn’t hack it,

No player in this squad or the academy should be written off as not good enough for us on the word of Dyche the dinosaur - it’s a clean slate for them all, and I hope Jake will get many more minutes, as I don’t think he’d have done any worse than Tarks has this season.

Like Branthwaite with a right foot.

Lets see against premier league opposition.

Having 2 CB's of that size would be a nightmare at set pieces to defend. Both are rapid also.

Good point this and what alot of us thought when he was signed.

It is a good tactic, but as we know, if anyone breathes within 2 yards of goalie, they get a free kick.

Shouldn't be the case, but unfortunately is, so I can't see it being effective too often

He was playing against an out of form Peterborough, with their main striker out injured.

Yes, these are the games he should be playing in for experience. It doesn’t make him a premiership level defender yet.

Tarks does so much more. Any hints they may be at the same level are laughable.

Allowing for the quality of the opposition, I still think he was the pick of our defenders and looked confident and composed most of the time.

I also liked the no-nonsense way he hoofs the ball clear when things get dicy in the box. Very basic instinct, but we often look disorganised and panicky under pressure.
