2024/25 Jake O'Brien

Bournemouth have got a left back bombing down the left hand side for them. Defending and joining in with the attack(remember those days) and he cost less than Jake O'brien.

Great manager/DOF combination we've got. Money tight? Yep. Need fullbacks? Yep.
Lets spend our small budget on a player we dont need and who gets no game time.
Lol classic Everton.
You`d think that the manager would talk to DOF and let him know what positions he wants to sort out and then the DOF would come back and talk to the manager about a shortlist of players we can afford to bring in, then manager would give him the go ahead, and we start the season with a new signing in the team.
What we seem to have in operation is DOF signs a player and manager sits him on the bench.

I certainly don't think that but it's hard to get away from the thought that this particular deal was heavily related to the Textor situation. It just seems way too much of a coincidence that we suddenly found some money from somewhere and decided to spend it on him of all people, only for him to find himself way out of the picture. Obviously I have no actual insight so could be miles off, but it seems very convenient to me that a club with no money decided it really wanted to sign 3 players from a club owned by a bloke who was trying to buy them.

If your DoF doesn’t want a player then he needs to grow a pair and say so. Rather than have his picture on the website welcoming him to the club and releasing quotes about how the fans will love him.

I don't disagree, like I said it's not really a defence of Thelwell just a comment on the transfer. I keep seeing people talking about the fee as if we would have been able to sign any player for that amount of money but my guess would be that isn't the case, and the terms for signing O'Brien were not comparable to signing any other player for the same fee.

Could be that the entite amount is due in year 5. Looks good for Lyons PSR and our actual accounts.

Bloody disgrace what Dyche is doing to this lad. He is using him to prove some kind of point. Ok he prefers Tarks & Branthwaite but there is no excuse not to give him some more minutes or even promote him ahead of Keane or have him as one of the first subs on. Its bloody infuriating to watch can't imagine what it's like for the lad himself. Either start playing him more now or let him go out on loan until Dyche is gone, what a muppet.

Unlikely to get it that easy again. They're over 40 places below us in the league. Expected the FK's and corners that are usually Tarkowski's to be all his.

Didn't hit one.
