…what surprised me most was not ‘withstanding tackles’, it was the number of times he won the ball off the opposition. No thundering tackles or physicality, he just seemed to ‘Nick’ it lots and come away with the ball (just like he did for the DCL goal at Brentford).
I reckon the opposition is so terrified of being slammed by Doucoure, Onana, Beto or Dom they don’t even notice Garner creeping up on them to nick it away 🤣

I sincerely hope he doesn't develop into a bit part player.
I liked Richardson but he was never a regular 1st team player.
I hope Garner is way better than that.

….lets not forget, he played plenty in arguably our most successful team ever. He played in the ‘84 Cup final success, won a title in ‘85 and then went on to be a regular in that fine Arsenal team that won the title at Anfield. Two English titles with different clubs is still an achievement these days. He was captain at Aston Villa when they finished 2nd in the inaugural PL and won a full England cap.

Terrific player was Richardson, very underrated. I think Garner is a similar type, very effective who might go under the radar a little.

He should only be put out wide as a last option. Especially at home to relegation candidates.

Centre midfield or right back for me.

I think he’s getting away quite lightly today people have been calling for him to be central but he was poor there today he had very little impact I thought he looked lightweight and slow.
