Very bad in Possession today but so were every single on of our players.

Bad game from him but he’s young and we are playing against 12 men at snake mountain .

Still our best passer and with him being young he will have performances like this as he develops.

Still expecting him to be a decent player for us this season as a cm

I thought Rockford was a bit of a let-down against Liverpool. Was hoping he would bring a bit of Derby match calm to our midfield and pick out a few decent passes, etc.
To be fair the ball spent most of the match in Liverpool possession and when we did have it, it bypassed the midfield anyway. Hoof ball. No plan, just launch it to Dom and hope for the best. Dom will win a good majority of headers and flick ons but nobody anywhere near him.

Garner's best matches come when there are people constantly moving around you to play on, supprisingly a 2 midfield versatile midfield may suit him better than a 3-person relatively rigid midfield where nobody moves. Against RS, I wouldn't have minded him moving into the RB spot and then along with Myko move into the midfield as an inverted fullback. We could then make more attacking substitutions without having the need to remove DCL.

Edit: Myko did it partially during the Bournemouth game.

Onana and Garner will only do well as a pair if the ball is passed to them. Smashing it over their heads isnt going to see them succeed.

I agree, but even at their feet they have not developed sufficient chemistry yet. And garner has a wonderful capacity to fully draw, the attention of all opposition players and not moving into further space, asking their partner to figure out a different alternative.

Thought he was really poor today for large parts of the game.

Still learning Macca...defo gona have these games from time to time. Its fine having an off day as long as we get a result.

Hes looked 'poor' imo compared with Onana.

But i think hes been hyped up on here as something when what he is, is a good all rounder.

Good team player and as we have Gana and Gomes as options we'll probably see him improve again once he has a new midfielder or two breathing down his neck.

He's still feeling his way into the league...we certainly need another CM not only to challenge but to give him and Onana a breather. I'd like us to maybe look at an quality 28 29 year old CM who's struggling for game time on the continent.
