They had 3 or 4 in midfield all game. If Doucoure drops back we lose our press. Harrison and Danjuma moved inside to help which left us open out wide.
Doucoure dropped back in the last 10 minutes of the first half and everything was good, then we reverted back to the two man midfield in the 2nd half.
Was our best midfielder by some distance last night but that wasn't a hard bar to pass.

I agree…he did the work of the other 4 as well who were all poor. I can forgive McNeill as he has been rushed back but he gave the ball away twice in the second half leading to 2 great chances for Palace where Virginia saved us.
Harrison was our worst player and his inability to hold on to the ball or his tendency to run into blind alleys is so frustrating.
Onana seemed to spend more time on the deck than on his feet and Gomes was Gomes,goal aside.

If we stay up, and that's a big if, we have a chance to revamp our midfield this summer after we sell Onana for big bucks. One more season for Gueye, but Gomes released and Onana out the door for around £50m allows us to bring in 2-3 players that may better suit us and help build the midfield around Garner who for me is easily our best central midfielder.
