2024/25 James Garner

We need to offer him a new contract. Was better than all their expensive midfielders.
I don't quite understand that with the huge rebuild in the summer, some of the other key players haven't already been offered new contracts. We shouldn't have to wait till the summer to get this sorted. We have enough work in finding new additions to worry about another player leaving on a free in less than 18 months.

Another solid match today. Appears to be at full fitness.

He's a proper Moyes player imo. Tenacious, can keep the play ticking and will stick to the tactical plan without always being eye catching.

Was a big miss along with McNeil in the last few desperate months of Dycheball.

Agree with the new contract as assume he has two years to run so him, Tim and Alcaraz hopefully full time with a nice core to build from.

Him and Ugarte had a thing all match Saturday, I dont know if anyone noticed but at the start of the second half Tarkowski ran out pointing at Ugarte and then spoke to Fernades pointing at him and then Garner.

I think thats what the little bit at the end was about too. Urgarte was at him all game, left a few late ones in on him too.

Full fitness but the only worry is that we need someone who progresses the ball in midfield other than him - as he's our only one teams usually suss this out and mark/annoy him out of the game more or less, making him feel anonymous. Still manages to find space and time, impressively for sure, but it's a (future) problem.

Charly made this better instantly, as does Doucoure for 45 min or so by being a target/outlet himself, but I'd still say we need an improvement over it - Doucs can't run for more than 50-60 min and Charly is not Moyes fit ready or whatever.

Gana used to do it occasionally when he was younger/pre-PSG, but I don't think he has the legs for it now and isn't really progressive enough.
