He's had 18 months of playing at CM with some good spells of form and also a few poor games.

At this period there's numbers in CM so he isn't needed there while he very much is needed at RB due to the hideous recruitment and decision making in that position.

He played 5-6 games in a row for England under 21s to win a major tournament there.

End of the season Gana and Doucs will I'm sure be released and who knows if Mangala will justify being signed for 15m + so there very much is a long term position still in CM.

He's a good pro and team player so I think he'll realise it's needs must currently at RB.

I don't think we're that far apart in our views.

Yes, there is a benefit in his getting a game (anywhere) and yes we're in need of him playing at RB.

I can see him becoming the kind of player that Kevin Richardson was for us back in the eighties; playing second fiddle to Reid, Bracewell and Sheedy. An excellent professional but never seemed to settle and find his place.

If the Friedkin takeover happens then yes Gana and Doucs will probably leave but the new manager will make his new signings - I just worry that Garner's progress will falter.

Who knows, he might solve our longstanding problem at RB but I don't think he looks a natural in that position.

Already faltering, playing him at RB for any length of time...whether he can cope or not. Ridiculous, sourpuss' claims that we're sorted at RB for the season.
 

Did well on Saturday, has helped manage the atrocious injury situation by playing competently at RB

But

His set piece delivery is terrible. Corners come in thigh high to the first man and he never had a prayer of getting that late free kick on frame.

McNeil did not have a good game against Newcastle’s midfield but he’s 1000% better suited to making a threat of that kick

Another puzzling Dyche tactical choice
