2024/25 James Garner

Proper meh game.

Good legs and work ethic but he’s a 6/10 type the majority of the time. If the quality is there with the ball we need to see him demanding it more often.

I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt today. Maybe the hot weather on the warm weather camp got to him but then the Brentford game he was underwhelming too. He has started to look a bit off it which Is a shame as after Leicester it looked like he would kick on, but maybe that's his level, I hope not.

It's like many say he's very much a 6 or 7 out of 10 player with probably more sixes. A good squad player but not yet the level of player who will be required for where we want to go.

But he has had a lot of injuries so maybe the long stint when just back from injury Is catching up with him a bit.

I don't really rate the lad to be honest. Makes 1 great pass every 15 games. I don't see what some people see in him
I rate him bc he's been able to do the 'unseen stuff that a line wasters over the last decade haven't been able to do. His positioning, covering, work rate, tackles, interceptions, moving the ball on from defence to attack and recycling are in this context under rated, and argue has played a big role us not getting relegated.

BUT if he doesn't improve in attack he's going to get left behind.

Agree hopefully improves with better players out wide and infront of him. Esp short term looking to play that pass into alcaraz first time

Lower PL team player, hence he's with us. Not good enough for a team with European ambitions, certainly as a midfielder. Maybe would have been interesting if the right back experiment had been persevered with.

He's a steady eddie type, holds his position, makes quick and low risk passes that keep the play ticking over and good cover when losing the ball.

Might just be me but feels the best runs of the season occur when he's in the team. Happened last season and he came in for the Leicester game this time after months out.

With Gana another year older and Doucoure going to be released he will be needed just as much next season so hopefully his fitness is better.
