Mind so did barkley, osman, pienarr and mirallas really. Fair play to kev and steven for the two goals, bur I thought Barry aside our midfield struggled to break them down really. Anything good we did came through Baines.

...interested that some are picking up that he's giving team mates a rollicking on the pitch. I was told by the lad I know who works on the Wigan backroom staff that he's a total pro who is particularly voiciferous in the dressing room. He demands the same commitment and application from others that he gives himself. Future captain material me thinks.
Not saying we played badly, we didn't. We were better than a poor hull side and good enough to win on the day, which is what matters.
But I dunno I thought our midfield struggled to get into top gear for a lot of the game, it wasn't a vintage performance. Barry was teriffic and mirallas produced two moments of brilliance, but I can't get into praising anyone else too much.
I thought McCarthy was the best player on the pitch, Distin and Jags forgot how to play football, Coleman was decent, Baines was Baines, did Osman play? Lukaku was terrible, Barks worked hard, but I think he struggled due to getting closed down hard, Barry played his normal steady game, agree about Mirallas, but he can do so much more.
Overall it was a very tired and meh performance, but 3 points is 3 points.
See I don't think Barry played particularly well. A lot of his passers were under hit, he probably should have been sent off as well.

It's ironic really felliani is getting it off united fans cos he isn't the defensive midfielder they hoped for. He's lazy doesn't track runners limited passing and lacks energy. One even suggested on red cafe that they should have bought McCarthy to play alongside carrick. Think that is being harsh on felliani, but I know it is early days but there's seems so much better balance with McCarthy in the team. The start of the season felliani didn't exactly up root trees with his performance as a defensive midfielder, and McCarthy has come in and done a stellar job. I'll admit I didn't want McCarthy, but at present I am happily being proved wrong by his performances. Lets hope he can keep this up. Piennar for osman can only make the balance even better in our midfield IMO.
