I rate the lad personally. Only time will tell on the fee but its not him who dictates how much he cost. As long as we give him a chance like we have with miralles, fellaini and other signings then it will help him settle in quicker and be good for everyone

Dangerously close to "Carroll was -£15m" talk there.

We paid well over the odds for McCarthy.

He might turn out to be a good long term signing but he was a rip off compared to Chadli/Holtby/Capoue/Eriksen all of whom have been signed in the last 12 months.

With the very outside exception of Holtby...none would have signed for us.

McCarthy has been wanting this all summer and i think he will be a great player.

Im scared to use a Roy keane comparison...because he doesnt have that dirtiness and arrogance Keane had but thats the type of player he should be looking to become, thats exactly the type of role we have bought him for. Up and down, all over the park, winning the ball back and playing it simple to the creative players. He will chip in with 2/3 goals also.

In 3 years he will be worth a hell of a lot more than £13M.

What? He is gone.

Remember when we signed Felli and people were saying we over payed for him, we got five extremely good years our of him and then sold him for almost double what we brought him for.

Martinez knows his football ability better than anyone and if he thinks he's worth 13m then he's defiantly worth 13m.

In Roberto we trust.

I seriously think everbody on this forum will be eating humble pie by the end of this season. McCarthy is going to be a fantastic player. He is not a deep lying midfielder hence we got Barry in as he and Gibson will do that job. McCarthy is a box to box midfielder who can grab the game by the scuff of the neck and has a exceptional engine and will put a shift in. He will be the one running our midfield and will be a massive step up from Ossie.

Totally agree with this!! Given time to settle in etc I think this lad could become a top player for us. Far too many on here have been ****ging him off since Martinez arrived, give the lad a chance!!!!

If this deal wasnt dependant on fellaini like they would have us beleive then why leave it till 10 to 11 last night?

Not the lads fault Whelan took us to the cleaners...AGAIN!

Really dont see why people get upset over what players have signed for other clubs and at what price though, its completely irrelevant.

Falcoa was 51M, Bale was 85M...5hit happens

Did you catch Elstone (someone at the "top of Everton") anyway calling the pundit at SSN to make it clear the McCarthy deal was in no way dependent on the sale of Fellaini? "Everton were always going to do business" was the catch phrase.

I´ll believe it when I see it.

Great signing. I dont think we paid way over the odds at all. This summer has seen the upping of valuations on players because of the extra revenue knocking about/clubs borrowing against that cash. Prices became inflated and they wont come down in a hurry.

We have an experienced but very young player who can add one touch passing and zip to that midfield area...which we've been crying out for. The team has a vey youthful look to it now with him in there (a point not detracted from Barry's loan as he'll be cover for Gibson). That was alarmingly not so under Moyes last period in charge when he hunkered down with his old guard like Hitler in the bunker.

He really is a poor operator. He has no ability for the job whatsoever and looks exactly like what he is: a promoted assistant way out of his depth.
