I don't get why what @davek has said is so bad?

This is Everton remember. Whilst I don't expect it to happen as the D man does, I wouldn't be too shocked if it did.

Agreed. He is right to be a bit uneasy having spent 28mil on a player as it's so out of character!

I don't think anyone will bid 30 mil for McCarthy tbh after one good season, maybe 20m and we wouldn't consider that IMO. Just Skybet Bollards

Edit, also, would LvG really want to buy off little ol Everton after the Fellaini purchase with Moyes?

Well exactly.

I don't actually think United even want him to be honest.

We've had a good few days, positivity flowing through the Club, fans are buzzing, then Sky Bet chat absolute wham and everyone goes back to their normal selves. Thats my problem.

It'll happen if van Gaal wants McCarthy.

The Besic deal is making sense more and more each day. I think at this stage Besic looks like insurance in case the magic number Kenwright is looking for is triggered by United (or anyone else for that matter). The fee they stumped up for Lukaku was jaw dropping, and if something seems to be too good to be true it usually is.

Of course they don't, they are probably going to sign Vidal or someone of that ilk.

And McCarthy does not want to leave. In the same interview that he trotted out Roberto's trademark "any outside interest just means I'm doing a good job" line, he also reiterated how much he loved Everton, that he was living every boy's dream and that he was desperate for the season to start so he could push on with the club.

Fair enough holding fears that people will get sold, but this one is a complete non-starter. I completely understand the reservations people still hold, and that it will take a while to break them, but things might just be a bit different this time.

What do you think the magic fee would be. I like him, top player but I would be tempted to let him go for £30m+

This might just be a flurry of bets because people who are actually in the know in manchester know that they are 'preparing a bid', and the assumption as already stated on here is that we'll immediately accept because we've spent mental money, and he'll immediately go there

I wouldn't let him leave, full stop. If he was sold by Kenwright though this club will have been absolutely mugged if they didn't get £30M+.
He's easily Fellaini's superior and we fetched £27.5M for him.

well odds of 1-3 are a little concerning , think lukaku was that at the weekend to join us, i think this is of mcCarthys own making by saying hes flattered at man utds interest, club need to put this to bed now and say mcarthys going nowere or this will spiral and if nothing else will unsettle mcarthy before the season starts

I think he is easily his superior in terms of his worth to this Martinez Everton team but Fellaini certainly has some great qualities. Very different players. In a nasty alternate reality in which we still had Moyes in charge I would prefer Fellaini over McCarty.

You say "If sold by Kenwright" as if he routinely takes it upon himself to sell players his manager doesn't want to let go. Also, when was the last time we got "absolutely mugged" on a player sale?

I'm still buzzing, but I was surprised the Lukaku situation didn't drag on past the start of the season and I wouldn't want another United transfer saga where the papers decide that McCarthy's off. This Sky Bet guff feels like the start of another protected transfer rumour.
