Player Valuation: Two Pokémon cards & a Pepperami
To the people who genuinely believe SkyBet to be a credible source: aks them what the odds are for him to stay at Everton, they won't give any.

If we enter September (2nd) without having sold a major player I will be amazed (and thoroughly relieved). We always sell some one dont we?
Bit early for the ale isn't it?
Isn't that how most our fans on here seem to judge potential signings though? lol
Now thats just inflamatory for inflamatories sake!!
Agree. Board have made some massive steps and are pushing us forward. I hope its within our means and it is backed up on the pitch.. We all know what happened to Leeds.. Not saying we will but you know..haha they made a great appointment with the manager and then provided him with £28m for lukaku (money which they were providing last summer let's not forget). obviously it was funded from fellaini, but that was money that previously went in their pocket, now it's being invested in the team (sort of) ha. i trust them more than before, but that's as far as the praise will go.
if a team offers £25m for mccarthy, we'd reject, but if they go to £30m, we have to listen imo. he's a great player and does his job really well, but i'm sure we could get someone else to do that job for a similar fee as we paid for him (possibly a more expensive more attack minded player) as well as having a good amount left over for another good first teamer.
Be afraid, be very afraid.
It's what this club does under Kenwright..it has a well worn policy of selling players on for a big profit.
Besic's arrival is useful to Martinez in two respects: he knows if a bid circa £30M comes in for McCarthy he'll be expected to seriously consider that, as it is the way Kenwright's Everton roll - always has been, always will be. Besic is a similar type of player and (if McCarthy stays) he can also play in a three man defence, so not a wasteful purchase.
There's been a few counselling that the end of the window is the time to judge these carpet baggers, not in the immediate aftermath of a one off major signing. Everton ALWAYS offload a big name for big money. I'd be pleasantly surprised if it didn't happen this time, but I fully expect it.

A £30m bid for McCarthy would NEVER happen, £20m at the absolute maxBe afraid, be very afraid.
