McCarthy was desperate to leave Wigan last summer. Not because they were relegated, but because of Martinez. Story I heard was he gave up a wad of cash from Wigan to join us, so cannot see that anything has changed in 12 months for him to want to move on.

Unlike some, (most) players, money is not the primary factor in how he thinks.

if a team offers £25m for mccarthy, we'd reject, but if they go to £30m, we have to listen imo. he's a great player and does his job really well, but i'm sure we could get someone else to do that job for a similar fee as we paid for him (possibly a more expensive more attack minded player) as well as having a good amount left over for another good first teamer.

I like your posts mate, but this one isn't your best.
Let's stop this "money's gone in their pocket" nonsense once and for all. Evertonians have more class than slinging around slanderous and ill-considered remarks like that. OK, we're cautious about this Board, but in reality that's because their stewardship has been below the drama-queen radar of other clubs, and we clearly haven't had the money to invest like some clubs.....but suggesting fraud or underhand self-indulgence is plain wrong.
We've lived within our means.....albeit some don't understand that surprisingly in the decade of credit chaos.

I'd choose Rom. I think finding a proven goalscorer (and at his age) has been a massive problem for us. We now have one.

I'd like to think McCarthy would be easier to replace (i.e. Besic)
 
I am not surprised that media are linking him...and wont be surprised if more of our players will get linked. It basically standard for them to do that...and now especially after Everton splashed out 28m on Lukaku they will think we have to sell someone and even link our players with more certainty. Thus we will have this for the next 30days at least till the windows closes imo. I am not worried...can not see Martinez allowing him to be sold...as he is planning to strengthen Everton...not weaken it by knowing if he buys X he will have to sell Y which is one of his key players he loves working with and key to the team. Thus...media bollocks imo...just expect it to be on steroids the next few weeks due to the shock of Everton splashing out 28m :)
