just noticed Jamesey isn't playing for the Republic tonight, he's not on the bench either.
Haven't seen anything about him being injured or withdrawing, anyone got a clue whats happened? he's usually a first pick for them.

He could do with the playing time at the moment to get back up to last season's sharpness

Being rested for the qualifier at the weekend. It is down to an ongoing issue with blisters on his feet apparently. Probably just precautionary to keep him fresh is all.

"O'Neill said he had a knock and wouldn't of played anyway" .. genuinely!

From a Irish Journo on twitter! Would say Martinez asked just not to play him, similar to Lukaku. Hopefully!

Noble ahead of McCarthy LOL
Giles basically wants him to play as well for Ireland as he does for Everton which is fair enough.

He's not saying Noble should take McCarthys place. This was posted in McCarthy should be captain thread and he makes some valid points and McCarthy has the ability to take the game by the scruff of the neck and demand the ball more and he doesn't do it enough. @Walken made some good points in that thread as well and it wasn't a case of slagging McCarthy off, just highlighting some things which a few fans would like to see more from him.

Johnny Giles always has been a bit like his rhyming slang, a pain in the arse! Wouldn't take any notice of him, McCarthy is a totally different class to Noble.
