Look, I'm reading back my posts and I'm regretting saying the stuf I said. I'm like this late at night every night, I sit in bed and evaluate things, it's like thinking time and I kind of talk rubbish at night. Sorry.

definatelt more interested in watching Ireland tonight. Is it on poor person tv or skysports?

I dont buy skysports, had a massive drunken argument with some b1tch on the phone after we beat southampton 7-1 at home and we werent game of the day...fkin fuming i was in the pub about 9 oclock when Bolton beating Man United 1-0 was the game of the day! Cancelled that 5hit there and then

Fight the power, Andy!

back to McCarthy, I watched the full game, I saw nothing that made me change my opinion on him. Sorry, I still don't get it.

He had an anonymous game. Trapatonni might even have subbed him at some point, not becuase he did anything spectacularly wrong, just a combination of the way the ball was being channeled route one up to Keane and Long - a result of Sweden flooding midfield and pressing impressively. It was the pattern of the game that didn't suit McCarthy. That said, he ended the match getting on the ball a lot more and looked full of running as all others were flagging. I didn't think he was helped by Whelan, tbh. He looked like a chicken with no head rushing out to anything when he should have been sitting and providing a base for McCarthy to play out from. He had no discipline and was practically bumping into McCarthy and taking his space.

Tell me more about your football career? What position?

I was delighted we signed mccarthy based on one or two performances I've seen of him. I was less than delighted based on that performance I saw of him last night. He was so negative with the ball (pass back after pass back after pass sideways after lose the ball with a blind pass after pass back etc...), refused to show any demand for the ball when he was in space (in fact more often than not I saw him hide from the player on the ball... genuinely did not want it one bit!) and most of the time when he was free he pointed at another player on the pitch for the player on the ball to pass it to. Was so frustrating to watch and utterly uninspiring.... Hopefully that was the last we'll ever see of that kind of performance from McCarthy!

One game in a poor side doesnt amount to much. RM knows the lad inside out, and if he says he is THAT good then ill reserve judgement until at least Christmas. Itll be interesting to see the team we send out for the next two games as the starting 11 is finally becoming tough to predict. Starting to be less one dimensional like DM was and actually use our different players to change a game. It starts by getting hard to beat and hard to concede against, then the goals will come. Hope the lad shows what he can do.

Can we not wait till he plays for Everton lads? Trap hasn't exactly gotten the best out of Everton players In the past, so using one game as a basis for an opinion of a player seems a bit much.

I think there's a slight going OTT about this performance, tbh. He certainly had an anonymous game, as I myself mentioned. He looked like he didn't clear his head until late in the game, and could easily have been subbed by Houlihan - should have been probably. But even last night there were things to hold onto: In the challenges he did make he came out on top; he lost the ball glaringly on one occasion but was pretty accurate in passing for the rest of the game. Certainly not a nightmare of a game, and I'm inclined to think he must have found it hard to get focused on this game given his week of hanging on about where he'd be playing his football from now on.

He'll be fine with an experienced player like Barry/Gibson at his side.
