James McCarthy

Watched the last 30 minutes of the Ireland game and wow...they are incrediby poor...

McCarthy was very very average tonight. First time I really watched him, and he just went back and sideways for the 30 minutes, despite them deperately needing to at least get one goal.

No taking the game by the scruff of the neck and trying the pull the rest of the team along with him from our James...just backwards and sidewards, backwards and sideways...

Ok then...

He can't do that for us. Needs to step it up in the premier league.

Not his best game tonight, but in all honesty, I am not going to judge him in what he does for Ireland. What sort of player is he, or at least, what role do people see him playing at Everton. I worry him and Barry will be quite one paced.

That's why my favoured pairing would be Gibson and Barry.

Sweden beat England last time they played. Players rated higher than McCarthy looked ****e then too. Judge him on how he fits into martinez's strategy. He didn't buy him so that Ireland did well.

Hard to judge him playing for Ireland whilst the manager will play/use him in a completely different way to what our manager will. Dinosaur tactics from Trapattoni wont give you a clear indication of how good James McCarthy is. The sooner they get rid of GT the better.

Trapattoni. Shame to see someone who achieved so much in the game cling on to management for so long that he appears to be a clueless, senile shell of his former self. He has constantly been getting confused with players and their positions. He still feels that McCarthy is a no. 10 attacking midfielder. This is why he wouldn't play him for so long as he couldn't trust a Platini-like player in his system. Tonight McCarthy looked like a headless chicken, a £500k player. Anonymous, the ball flying over his head as he ran up and down trying to join attacks, while Glenn ****ing Whelan acted as playmaker. Such a shame that Ireland don't have a manager who knows his players and how to play to their strengths. Put it this way. If Martinez was Ireland manager tonight we wouldn't have had to endure this waste of talent, particularly McCarthy.

Just back from the game. It wasTrap's system that made Mc Carthy look ordinary, even Coleman looked average in it tonight ffs. That's the end of Trap. No worries from an EFC pov.

I didn't see much but he seemed to keep his position well and seemed ok as a central midfielder, took no risks, played safe passes, can't evaluate him on this one performance so we'll see against Chelsea. The last thing I want is someone who passes side to side or to the nearest man, give and go is sometimes good football but its not really gonna break a team down. McCarthy can make himself look good passing to the nearest man or someone who is in clear space, who couldn't do that? Put me in central midfield and I'll play it off to Baines or Coleman, go back to Jagielka and even pass to Barkley. Do that for 90 minutes could I be a professional footballer? I do actually have great ball control and I was good until I got ruled out with a serious injury at 16, I went to the doctors and he booked me in for a blood test with the hospital, to this day I still haven't had the blood test, I shat myself and never went back. Even to this day if I strike a ball it feels like my quadriceps rips, tears and leaves my whole left leg in agony for days. I sometimes have to put ice on it to take the pain away. I've no idea why it does that but it's like something is tearing in my leg. Maybe if I got it looked at I could've rescued a football career, but hey, I'm successful in other aspects and I'll continue to improve myself and be determined to succeed in life. Not particularly interested in relationships, well I am but I'm going through a phase were I think it's important to focus on my career and continuously put bread in the bank. I sometimes have these great business ideas but I never go through with them, I think about the risks and it puts me off. I have some fresh ideas though and I'm solely gonna focus on one at a time and build on it. I think I've said enough. Sorry
