I've got to say I'm very excited about James. He looks like he does the bread and butter things very very well. He looks comfortable with either foot. He still has a lot to learn, but with people like Barry and Gibson next to him he is only going to get better and better. What with him and new boys coming in, the young lads we have coming through, and us actually playing football now, I can't remember the last time I felt so optimistic. It will take time, but the future looks very very bright from where I'm standing.

Before anyone sees McCarthy play bare in mind he is a raw young up and coming midfielder - when the great Howard kendall came to Goodison from Preston North End - it took him 8-10 games before potential was seen - the moans in the ground were all over the place about Howard and what a great player he became, and what a midfield tro we became in those days - if the engine room in midfield i.e. poor your strikers are not going to score so RM has the time now and he will need time to set up a team with a stronger squad and get the balance right fore his brand of football - sad to see Felli go , but he was never a box to box midfielder - more of a player behind the striker player which were he was most dangerous Barkley will learn to fill that role - sad to see Victor go he was showing his potential but was injury prone - RM will need time as well
