James McCarthy

Ha. Delighted somebody posted an RTE video. Brady, Giles and Dunphy can get a bit grumpy and stick to some stupid opinions and their knowledge of players outside of the Prem or the big teams can be non existant but at least they are entertaining.

When Giles actually just focuses on whats happening in the game he is close to the best TV analyst I've seen.

Also you can't beat Brady and Dunphy arguing with Bill O'Herlihy mediating and sometimes winding them up.

they are a class panel of analysts and actually tell it as it is as opposed to every other stations cliche'd rubbish, never forget the look of - they cant get away with saying that - on Souness's face the first day he joined them as a guest analyst,

anyway Brady has been championing McCarthy's case for years now, long before he even broke into the Irish team, he's a bit reluctant to slate his buddy Trap (u think we were hard done by with Moyes) for not picking him but he's never wavered in his praise for JMac

on a slightly side note about Trap, he'll name the team tonight and there's one place up for grabs cos he's so predictable the other 10 places aren't in doubt, left wing he has the choice of wide players McClean, Robbie Brady, Pilkington off Norwich but bet my life on it he'll play Nottingham Forest centre forward Simon Cox there!! I swear to god the fume levels would go through the roof on here if Trap was everton manager

It's a Low risk deal . Before we brought him I was thinking we shouldnt be spending more than 8m for him but the more you think he's an investment who will double the amount we paid for him . He's only 22 got expeirence and he now has the right players around him to improve. With lukaku coming in to replace the goals Fellaini scored he just has to focus on his own game. With Barkley and Gibson in there we do have a fine midfield. Think we just need a playmaker now and we would have midfield sorted for the years to come

Even the Liverpool fans in the Everton thread on RAWK were all saying he's a class midfielder and that was after we signed him. It appears that the only people that don't rate him are Everton fans.
Because for other clubs, £13 million isn't an outrageous sum of money to spend on a player. For us, it's the 2nd costliest transfer of all time. So for that kind of money we expect a truly world class player, even if those don't come at that price.

Man U fans appearing to have exactly the same view as me - that hes got the potential to be class.

Interesting when one of them said - we took a certain Roy Keane from relegated forest...i compared McCarthy to have the potential to become a Keane type player if he raises his arrogance and realises how good he can be.

They massively, massively underestimate Fellaini though...its like theyve never seen him play. The lad commenting that he cant pass water hasnt seen a minute of him this season

Yeah that's been blown well out the water when the stats for this season where shown, when Felli actually played CM, and he outperformed the utd midfield in every aspect, topping even Carricks passing stats

Agree, he a better CM then behind the striker so Man u will see the best of him where we didn't. Will his new position be next to Carrick? I'm so excited about James making his debut for us? just the get the feeling he will be more suited to us then Fellaini.

Martinez is taking up a similar method in transfers to Jurgen Klopp and it could pay off spectacularly imo. McCarthy is a player who has at times dominated games in the league for four years now. Then you add Barkley and the experience and quality of Barry and you begin to see the quality and balance that our "homegrown" midfield possesses. Roberto Martinez has surpasssed Moyes with how canny he has been in this window.

Giles and Dumphy are two complete W**nkers. Dumphy in particular is one of the bitterest of old crones on the planet.

Liam Brady was one of the most complete midfielders who ever played the game. I respect his opinion on any midfielder/ young player etc. He was the brains behind Asrenal's Academy until recently - a very intelligent individual.

I can't help but feel really excited about this kid. He is exactly what we have been lacking for years. He works totally for the team just breaking things up and passing it on, is full of energy and has talent as well. We all loved Carsley for what he gave the team but i feel JM offers so much more. He will also allow far more expressive play from our attack minded players so they wont have to track back as much. Sometimes the best signings aren't the flair players and i certainly think this is an example of that.

I am hugely excited by this signing. Everybody in Ireland rates him massively. All my mates are gutted they missed out on him. The future is bright with him.
