Yep, Martinez also bought him from Hamilton for a hell of a lot less than that, not sure what the actual figure was?

Anyway, I hope the lad is carrying enough of an injury to keep him out on Friday, but back for west ham!

You are spot on. It sounds a cliché but it's only when you watch him lots you can see his value to the team. The only player I cam remember us having close to this lad was Joe Parkinson, and what a difference he made to the team. In truth I think our loss of form in the 90's was more than a bit down to losing Parkinson.

Though I digress, what's funny is that that Blind from Manchester United gets so much praise. And he is a neat and tidy player who has helped sure up United. However he is not a patch on McCarthy.

The thing with Parkinson is that he played at a time when you could still put a tasty challenge in and be a bit *ahem* 'late' getting there. McCarthy has to operate more by staying on his feet and stripping the ball away from the opposition, and any time he does tackle with venom it has to be perfectly timed. The whole thing is done with more precision.

Yes without doubt and McCarthy is more versatile than Joe was, however Joe played in a time when footballers were less athletic. I think McCarthy has more to his game, and given his age will go on to be a better player than Joe too. I think it's just nice to see a player like Parkinson after all of these years, a real ball winner in the middle of the park.

He'd be mad to go there and I honestly believe it. He will be struggling to get in their team when he should walk in. Average players like Blind would be keeping him on the bench. They've got more problems than we have and he'd just be another player there. We've all seen what's happened to Fellaini as well.

I'm not worried about him going to be honest either. Always praises the fans after every game on Twitter, even when we've been quiet and he's a real fans favourite.

I was so wrong about him when he joined. Didn't think he was that great at all, but he is an excellent player and one of the best, if not best in his position in the whole league. Yes there are players with more flair and vision than him, but he's great at what he does. Gets stuck in, plays on through injury, last ditch tackles, prevents opposition attacks early on and right at the last second, and gives his all. Also has real pace and can get the ball moved on quickly. Made up he's playing for us.

joe was an idol of mine, 1 of my favourite all time players. True player fully commited, mcarthey is the same. Glad for the step up.think he will be here for a few season's yet.

People just don't have the discipline or patience for proper trolling now it seems, the modern generation just need instant gratification.

It's sad really all the old values of the early Internet are dying out.
