....I don't know whether he's obliged to do that, especially as he finished the game. I'd be surprised if he's not facing a short spell on the sidelines.

Probably right.He got on the plane, good enough for me as an Irish supporter & Everton fan although Id rather he sat it out and be ready for West Ham if hes not 100%. Thinks it only Utd and Lpool players that dont bother leaving their clubs when suppsore to be injured!!

Barry is the true defensive midfielder who sits deep though - I think James should have license to get forward a bit more and add a few goals to his game. Hopefully that will come.

He has those driving forward runs in his locker - he saw the opening against Sunderland in the second half last week and carried the ball 30 odd yards into their area. I think he's just very slightly conservative in his play, determined not to make a mistake that creates a vulnerable situation. That's not a bad thing, and as he grows futher into his role we'll see more expression from him, I'm sure.

The most exciting thing about James is he has every component of a top central midfielder: physically he's fast and strong; mentally he shows good anticipation and terrific effort (the goal clearance on Sunday was heroic); and technically he can pass, has good feet and comfort on the ball, and is capable (see Hull last year) of getting in the box and scoring. He might not be showing the latter all that much, but I honstly can't think of the last midfielder we had who possessed all those qualities.

He has been superb this season, I am worried about the amount of noise being made in the media regarding his contract situation and a possible summer move. I appreciate he is under contract until 2018 so there is no panic, it does seem like his representatives are trying hard to negotiate a pay rise though.
