James McCarthy

I'm perfectly happy with him not scoring. It's because every single time the ball gets in the opponent's box, he hangs back from it waiting to mop up any counter attack, and does it with ridiculous efficiency. This is also why he lays it off after a run forward, so he can sit back and hoover when necessary. Keep it up James.

James McCelele is doing a great job doing what he's doing, why make him less effective for the team by asking him to do even more peoples jobs for them?

Keep on keeping on you glorious Gingernator.

James McCarthy is still touch and go ahead of Republic of Ireland's European Championship qualifier with Scotland.
His international boss Martin O'Neill confirmed the midfielder was due to have a scan on the hamstring complaint picked up at the end of Everton's 1-1 draw with Sunderland on Wednesday. The result of that scan could determine whether McCarthy plays against the country of his birth.

O'Neill said: "James is obviously feeling better each day. He didn’t do any work today – he went for another scan this afternoon, which is kind of an update – but he is feeling better, so we will see what tomorrow might bring. "Remember, it’s only a few days since the injury and there’s a possibility of trying to join in now in the next couple of days. But that’s all it was, it was just a walk with the doctor. “If he is fit to play and wants to play, that’s fine; if he’s not, then fine. He is improving.”

That sounds a whole lot better than yesterday....thank fcuk for that...really fearing the worst.
Looks likely if he doesnt play for Ireland he should be ok for the West Ham game.

I am worried that Ireland will try to play him even if not properly fit and he could be out for a long spell if his hamstring really did tear. I would like to see the Everton medical team involved in this.

Irish media saying if he doesn't train this morning he wont start tomorrow. Training begins shortly so will be keeping my eye on it.

EDIT: I'm Irish but I'd rather he sat out the match tomorrow and was fit for West Ham
