James McCarthy

Its down to the contract promise we made him 12 months ago, by the sounds of if, we look to be not sticking to our promise.

I'm sure ideally he will sign a new deal, but if we are not offering him one, then what is he to do ?? Especially wit Gibson getting a new one, and Clev getting a decent sized contract, he has to look at his options.

I would hope we are offering Gibson a smaller financial package than his current deal, freeing up wages...
Then find a quality no10 who might cost in the initial outlay, but not command vast wages.

Once the squad is finalised then we can see if the finance are there to offer McCarthy what he desires.

Swerve both Dembele and Mason tbh. If HAD to sell McCarthy I'd want cash up front to buy an adequate replacement, that's basically it

"orrrrr....we could sell him and get a loan player in?" - Bill Kenwright on deadline day

Why would the club not offer one of our best players a new contract, if he got 3 years left then we would wait till next summer as we can't renew contracts every season plus we had a bad season so you can't reward players for a bad season.

Hi Russell mi old china, despite all the pages of nonsense on other threads about the transfer dealings of yer 'Ammers, we're still an Everton forum mate.
It also might be worth sticking to knowing feck all about politics before you make even more of an arse of yourself knowing feck all about football. ;-)

Another fountainous spouting from my favourite spurting lesbian...god bless you, and all who shower in and under you

But we promised him an increase, that's the point mate,

Could be the case mate, we just don't know. Silence is a tad worrying.

On what planet are the two remotely similar?
they play completely different roles in a team.
Exactly. One a defensive midfielder and the other an attacking midfielder! Nothing alike at all.

The only way I can see it, is Besic would be McCarthy's ready made replacement whilst the funds are used for that coveted number 10.

But how do we know what was agreed between club and player ?
There seems to be a very good relationship between player and manager, if the player was unhappy about a contract issue I would think that the first person he would speak to would be RM.

We must also remember that McCarthy leaving Everton is part of the media agenda for this window. We have heard all sorts of stories and I would expect that none of them are true.

Fairly sure it was mentioned somewhere at the time. It was the last day of the window and they were quibbling over the wage. in the end it was decided he'd get a figure nearer the clubs thoughts in return it would be increased as and when he made it as a first team regular
